The lack of on the floor leadership isn’t too surprising given the role playing pasts.

But there is no excuse to not rotate on defense, not pressure the ball, not talk to each other, and not to box out.

Fundamentals are lacking.

When you can’t shoot...drive the ball.

NIT, if there is not a substantial improvement.

When you loose 67% of your scoring with the departure of the 3 players from the team of last year, it is very difficult to replace them. It did not help that the NCAA did not approve immediate playing by our 7' post player either.

Vescovi played well for the most part, a good shooter. He isn’t used to playing against athletic, long defenders. He even said in the post game interview that the game was more physical than he imagined.

It will take time for this team to gel but they will improve. Fulkerson has must be more aggressive.

They will get better with #25 getting 3 or 4 games of experience. He did great today with only 3 practices and less than a week in country. The Team will adjust to him and Jordan needs to get out of the Funk!!!!

Think we'll be in the tournament. Faith in CRB & encouraged that Vescovi gets better & better. Kid has the skills.
He definitely has skills. I thought the speed of the game and maybe the athleticism of the players surprised him some but he can adjust to that. Rarely has a freshman, much less one only on campus for 6 days, had such an impact that quickly. At least I cant recall one. I'm sure all the SEC coaches will scheme for that now. Goodness knows, scheming for Bowden with the absolute funk he's in isn't necessary(at least not right now). We just have zero leadership and our defense is starting to suffer from it as well. IMO the NCAA will be a difficult goal to achieve but I've been wrong before.

Retrospectively, this was supposed to be a year when we were led by our experienced perimeter players and a highly regarded wing recruit. Turner is now out (and was severely affected by his injury even when he played; but he sure do miss his defense), Bowden is now shooting 36% from the field and continues to trend downward as competition improves, and James is just not aggressive enough and would rather be a complementary player.

It is what it is but we are trying to revamp roles and positions right in the middle of the season. What was anticipated has all changed. We really do need to start going to Fulky or Pons more frequently in the half court set and push tempo for quicker shots before the defense is set when able. An NCAA bid would be a miracle. NIT is not assured, but I am willing to let these guys improve game by game and not give up on them. The fact that no one in the SEC is particularly impressive, (even Auburn whose schedule is lacking), gives us some hope. Next up is Missouri.

Bernard King and Alan Houston. That's about it.
