Reading that article makes me sick to my stomach looking at all those coaching hires.

I used to be one of those that was "Ahhh, no mas" when it came to thinking about the possibility of a Kirby Smart head coaching hire. The more and more I see Saban wanting to keep him around, however, the more convinced I am that he might have the goods. Obviously, being a good coordinator does not translate necessarily into being a good coach, but Saban made no attempts like this to keep Dooley or Sunseri around.

I could easily see Smart being the Coach in waiting at Ala. I dont see Saban Coaching more than a couple more years. Honestly what else does he have to prove at Ala? I could see him taking the Dallas job when it opens or even a shot to be the first coach to win a NC at 3 different schools. But a top flight job would need to be open. He wasnt all that at Mich St and really any good Coach should be able to win championships at LSU and Ala with each schools instate talent. So it would be at a university he could win at fast if he ever does do it.

Maybe but what jobs has Smart even interviewed for? Saban cpuldnt offer Sunseri the D.C job nor pay him DC money just to be an assistant coach and Dooley left to be a HC and AD. Typically Coachs dont stay with Saban long. I do wonder if Saban is close to being done at Ala and grooming Smart to follow him. But on the other hand you dont see Smart's name being mentioned much when all the job openings came open last yr. UT was never gonna hire him and no way in hell was Jay Jaycobs gonna hire him at AU. But I dont recall his name mentioned for the Arky or any other BCS schools either. Saban's understudies havent exactly faired well.
