From another board:

"On the Bama website to which you can link from scout.com, there is a brief report that Bama's freshman receiver Mike McCoy was bitten by our beloved Smokey. The incident was witnessed by Tim Castille and a member of the Bama training staff. When did this happen? Was Smokey provoked? I assume that since this is reported under the "News and Notes" section on the website that the story has been authenticated. I hope nothing happens to either the Bama player or Smokey. The witnesses stated that the bite was severe enough to draw blood."

"It ocurred during pregame warmups. I didn't see the actual bite, but based on the reaction my guess would be that a pass was thrown out of bounds in the general vicinity of Smokey. Smokey then bit the Bama player."

The player ran out of bounds right at smokey, and he jumped up and bit him in what looked like his butt.

BWAHAHAHAH!!!!

stay away from our dog.

the end of the personal foul play on Bama where they unloaded on Heffney while he tried to return the punt, also spilled over to Smokey's end of the field. the Bama players who got near him also got a snarl of his lip and i think he even tried to jump at a Bama player who was running his mouth.

I was in the student section right in front of this when it happened. The whole story of it is, just so you can get this picture in your mind, while Bama was warming up on their side of the field, they were throwing corner routes to the receivers to about the 15 yard line right in front of smokey. Most of the balls were 10 years out of bounds or really short, their QBs are terrible, by the way, but the ball thrown to #80 was about 5 yards out of bounds and while he was chasing it he ran out of room. As soon as he hit our sideline, Smokey took off after him and jumped up on him and bit him right on his right thigh pretty hard. He ran off faster than anyone on their team ran all day pretty mad. He kept looking down as if to see blood, but I couldn't see any from 10 rows up. After it was all said and done with, the cheerleaders and the guys that take care of smokey were all patting him and laughing with the dog and stuff. It was probably the funniest thing I have ever seen.

Just to be safe we better have Smokey get another Rabies shot, I wouldn't want him to get sick.
