Was watching the second half of Georgia game and the commentators were using this(Smurf Package)describing our defense at times. Especially on the play where Corey Vereen got the sack.
Anyone know what this is ?
Sorry if already discussed

I didn't see it, but I'd assume it meant we were taking DTs off the field in favor of DEs for the pass rush and taking LBs out in favor of DBS so we could play Nickel and Dime in the back.

When the defense hopes to go 3 and out, only to allow a 1st down thus giving them an atrocious case of blue balls. Kinda like something else.

It has Vereen and Miller on the Edges and Jacques and Walls on the inside, with one goal and that is get to the QB

Butch and Co. haven't coined it the "smurf package". That's just what Gary Danielson called it. But yeah the idea is smaller, faster guys in on D.

No, no, that's what Butch and the boys call it. Like the Beast Package with AJ, it's just another goofy name for a playcall. Plenty of those out there and it wasn't made up by Verne & Gary.

If that's true that's the first I've heard of it
