I have a question. Was Pearl really the mastermind behind the offense last year or were players like JP the real reason our offense began clicking in March? He was so effective at penetrating the zone that it opened up all kinds of opportunities for the other 4 on the floor.
Thoughts?
Combination of lots of things.
-Tatum shot well towards the end of the year (and didn't shoot at all for a while in the middle, being suspended)
-Williams played like a beast towards the end of the year.
-Prince, Chism, and Maze turned it on towards the end, like you'd hope your seniors do when they realize their UT career is nearly over.
If we're talking specifically the NCAAT, then:
-SDSU was a bad offensive game for us, but we played good defense.
-Ohio was just overmatched.
-OSU had no size to speak of, and we took advantage of it. They shot better than us, took care of the ball better, and got to the FT line more, but we beat them up on the glass and it was enough.
-MSU was actually one of our best offensive games of the year. We shot well, took care of the ball, hit the offensive glass, and got to the line.
But offensive success wasn't limited to year's end. Our best offensive game against a non-patsy was probably Charlotte. We had a good offensive game against Kansas. We pounded SC at home, because they always insist on extending their defense and guarding us man-to-man far from the basket, which is kind of what we wish everyone would do.
