I know we extend over 100 offers every year. What's to keep someone we long longer are after who never committed from signing a LOI on February 3 and faxing it in? How do we ensure no more LOI are faxed in than we have room for?

Sorry, just have no clue how this end process works...

I think Tennessee has to send them a UT-Specific LOI for the recruit to sign and fax back in to the school. So UT probably only sends LOI's to recruits they know are committed. I believe that's how it works.

The LOI question comes up every year at this time. Needs to be a permanent sticky.

Not a bad idea. I was thinking the exact same thing the other day.

I assume our staff sends the LOI on NSD by fax with their name and other defining info, then have them sign (notarize?) it and fax back. If nobody sends you an LOI ,then :cray:.

Been thinking about forging my own LOI and faxing it in on NSD, so the fax girl can get it with a strange look on face as she carries it down to Butch. Who knows, I have full eligibility. Plus, the older I get, the greater I was. Sooo ... :eek:lol:

Im pretty sure the school has the right to accept or not accept a LOI

Can we get Derrick Brown's fax/email and send him a couple of faxes on Auburn and UGA letterhead that say that they're no longer in need of his services? :thud:

Yeah tons of offers but the kids have tons of offers usually from a variety. So common sense tells you not all will come. Then after all the solid commitments they figure out how many of the game changers or areas of need are left. Out of those they decide who they will accept priority id spots are limited. If they dont get their big fish as it were then they hope they didnt totally wreck the relationship with others making them feel like not as important.

Wasn't there a kid a couple of years ago that had multiple LOIs sent in, maybe he sent one and his mother sent another to a different school? Am I remembering that right?

Here's how it works:

Recruit attends a camp in 8th grade and happens to have a good day on the stat sheet. Recruit is showered with positive attention from coaches, schools and message boards for the next 4 years. Recruit develops an inflated sense of self and entitlement mentality because all the adults in his life treat him like he's the key to their happiness. Recruit pulls some lame stunt on NSD when picking a school where only the fans of the school he chose think it's awesome. Recruit shows up for the first day of practice and finds out the last 4 years of his life were a complete lie.

You're thinking of Kevin Hart. "Chose" Cal over Oregon but had offers from neither.

Well wouldn't a kid have to commit, and then a school accept that commitment then extend an LOI to be signed and faxed for an offer to even matter? Like Crappy fishing, throw out as many lines as possible type deal and throw back the non keepers.

Yeah I think he wanted to go to Arkansas but his mom wouldn't sign LOI so the kids dad did. The mom then stole the papers. Lol

There was a situation with Landon Collins. I know he was wanting to go to Bama and his mom was wanting him to go to LSU but I can't remember the exact scenario. This may not be the situation that you are referring to though.

Pretty sure York is referring to Alex Collins at Arky.
Mom stole the loi and ran off, he had to get dad to sign it.
