Thanks Moore and Graves for your 4 years of contributions to the history of the Lady Vol Program. I wish things could have gone better and you would have made at least one final four during your tenure on Rocky Top.

I wish you both well in your future endeavors. Always remember wear the Big Orange with pride. :clapping::salute:

Go Lady Vols

All things considered your two players came far and did well. And they leave a respected university with degrees in hand and not a dime of student loans hanging over them. Perhaps there's some pro time to be played, perhaps not. That degree is the thing and I for one want to stand up and applaud for anyone who earns it.

Graves was a great player for us hopefully she has a long pro career ahead. Moore came in and worked hard never could quite get enough weight on she had her moments on the court however a VFL.

Let's add Jasmine Jones, whose playing career also ended this season.

There have been several games (including last night's) where Jones size and athleticism (and her ability to defend the perimeter) would have been particularly valuable assets.

Now that the season is officially over, player announcements will give everyone an indication of the composition of next year's roster. There may be additions and/or subtractions. There seems to be a lot more mobility in WCBB than there was ten or fifteen years ago. Tennessee may pick up a few players to fill some holes.

Any transfers would not help the LVs playing roster for next season (i.e., transfers have to sit out a year).

It is my understanding that if a D-I player has received her degree, she does not have to sit out a year. An "addition" could also be a high school senior, foreign player, D-II/III, or a JUCO. It doesn't have to be a transfer from another D-I school.

Graduate transfers and hardship transfers can be eligible right away. Let's hope that we can pick one or two. The best senerio would be to pick up a good JC player or two, or surprise 3 star left unrecruited and have a chip on their shoulders to prove they belong at the D1 level. No matter who we recruit, we have to find a way to get our MOJO back, and that starts with aggressive coaching.

Okay, but those options have always been in place. I assumed when you said there is more mobility in WCBB than in the past, you were referring to transfers.

It's going to be hard for Graves to make it in the WNBA, IMO. She plays her tail off, I give her credit for her excellent work ethic, but she essentially a rebounder and even that is going to be considerably tougher in the pros. I wish her and Moore well. I too wish the coaches had had enough common sense to redshirt Moore, as she basically didn't play at all for two years.

Graves Earns AP Honors

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- University of Tennessee women’s basketball forward Bashaara Graves has been named an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American, the media organization announced on Monday afternoon.

Graves, a 6-foot-2 senior from Clarksville, Tenn., averaged 10.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 33 contests this season. She connected on 54 percent of her attempts from the field and hit 74 percent at the free throw line. She registered eight double-doubles in her final season, finishing her career with 29 to wind up ninth on UT’s all-time list.

The product of Clarksville High School finished her career with 1,509 points and 1,044 rebounds, ranking 19th and third, respectively, in those categories at UT. She is one of only five Lady Vols to finish her career with more than 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds.

Additionally, Graves ranks fifth in career starts (128), seventh in career free throws made (405), ninth in career free throws attempted (566) and 10th in career rebounding average (7.5).

Graves was instrumental in helping Tennessee close out the season with six wins in its final eight games, advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight for the third time in her career. She also helped the Lady Vols to an NCAA Sweet 16 and three total SEC Championships (two regular season, one tournament) while pushing UT to a 108-34 record during her time in Knoxville.

The postseason national recognition was the first for Graves since she earned WBCA Honorable Mention All-America and Full Court Freshman All-American accolades in 2012-13.
