wierd flex but he learned it from saban. Take the pressure off your players and put it on the coach. He's taking the attention off the kids. South alabama is no joke rn.

They were actually able to rebound and seemingly restore order after that though...they hired Todd Monken then Hopson, which got them in 4 bowls over the next 5 seasons.

Their current issues seem to stem from Hopson resigning out of nowhere after the first game last season, then the interim leaving a few games after that to take the Austin Peay job.

We have unfortunately. Maybe not so much with straight honesty but this guy got his azz handed to him like many of our former coaches. Dooley told the truth to fans about how much his teams sucked.

Southern Miss has historically been no joke. They were Boise St before Boise St.

Anybody know what is going on down there that they cannot keep a coach for the last few years?

Southern Miss back in the day used to get their fair share of very good players out of their home state and sneak up and get Bama every now and then. Brett Farve came out of there for instance. I don't think that's the case any longer. Kiffin probably has a wall around that state now.

Didn't we play them in a season opener sometime maybe 2000 or 2001 ?

Anyway, I remember playing them during the period where we really had things humming and we barely escaped Neyland with a win.

2000. Game was ugly as hell. Only won by like 3 or 4.
