Like it was stated a couple days ago it looks like it's coming down to Reese, Edwards, or Landry not making it onto campus.

If I had to choose Id rather see Edwards go. Reese needs a full year of no injury to prove himself he has some upside he didn't fully get to show it. Only a sophomore.

Landry isn't the guard that we expected no, but even still he can be groomed and developed into a defensive stopper and can clock some minutes if needed. He'll only be a freshman and has years to get it right.

I want Reese back. I was impressed with him and for a 6-8 guy he can shoot from behind the arc and he can rebound. So in my mind it would most likely be Edwards or Landry. JMO. Go Vols!

I'm hoping it's Landry or Reese...I would like to have edwards scholarship open for next years class. Golden, McRae and Maymon are gone...odds are pretty decent Stokes will go, so that's 4. If you keep Edwards you have 5 spots next year, you part with him to make room now though and you lose that spot.

My honest best case...drop Landry and Reese and pursue either Barton or Mathieu. Go ALL IN for next year. The wings are loaded, McRae will be preseason 1st team, if Richardson continues to develop he'll make noise, and then you have top 20 freshman Robert Hubbs. Our post will quite possibly be the best starting duo in the SEC, yes better than Kentucky, if Maymon comes back close to 100% (and reports sound good). That leaves PG, the last 2 seasons struggles have coincided with poor play from Golden, unfortunately we didn't have much of any other choice but to continue to play him until he got through it. We add Thompson, but not sure how much weight you can really put on the freshmans shoulders. I would love to see us add an experienced guard to have as a backup incase golden has another lull or gets injured. You add a guard and I truly believe this team can be as good as any team in the country.

I would love to have Barton or Mathieu so yeah thats a good picture there. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I would want Mathieu to back up or Golden or even start if he had to this season. I would love to have Barton too though I am not sure if its realistic. Still wouldn't mind having Reese though. He's a 6-8 guy that can shoot but still BTO I hear ya.

BTO are you hearing that Landry may be the casualty? I read on VQ he might be but I don't know for sure. Can you check on that somehow?

It seems to be the popular opinion...has been the thought for about 6 months by many that he wouldn't make it in here most likely.

Here is the thing Edwards will be a senior even if he plays none at all he frees up a scholarship Landry does not. Second whether or not Landry comes we need a dynamic point guard in the 2014 class and we are recruiting many. Reese has good touch on his shot we just need to develop him into a very strong post player forget the perimeter. He is the same height as Stokes with longer arms he is just very weak right now. If we can get him a lot stronger and teach him defense he could be a player for us his junior season when we need some post players desperately.

-Brent Hubbs

I don't see a reason for him coming because the point guard spot this coming season belongs to Golden and Thompson. We are working hard on several top notch point guards for 2014 and Thompson will only be a sophomore. I don't think he could crack the rotation he should realize that and agree to go elsewhere.

This. 6-8 guys who can shoot the 3 are a valuable asset to have and he's easily got the most upside out of these 3 players.

Heard Rucker on Steven Pearl's radio show yesterday saying that Landry is likely the odd man out. It seems Hubbs and Rob feel the same.

IMO if true, it is a mistake on Martin's part. This doesn't set a good precedent. It will be used against us in recruiting and it really hurts us at Huntington Prep where Jalen Lindsey will be next year and I doubt it will be the last time we recruit a kid from that school.

You just have to take what's dealt. I think Martin saw Landry a 3 star who had some up side in Alabama. Then he transfers has a bad summer and even worse season. He signs and then Thompson blows up it happens. I don't completely look into stats as defining a player but his stats were awful. He played with superstars so you would think he would have a lot of assist. I hope this doesn't effect recruiting Jalen but we will see.

I couldn't agree more. It's a bad move to damage a relationship with a recruiting ground like Huntington.

I don't know if its that big of a deal. But what choice do we have if the kid can't play at this level? I do think a year in Prep School to hone his skills might be the better option for him so he can find a perfect fit. Surely the HC at Huntington would realize this. Go Vols!

I agree unless it's a mutual sit down with say martin, Landry, his coach and parents. They sit down and together decide the best thing for him would be to go to prep school for another year.

Not bashing, but Im not sure Tennessee has any coaches who can develope a post player. The jury is still out on that one.
