I know Spurrier, Pinkel, and Missouri had wanted this but I heard South Carolina had nixed it.

If that's what that is, good for them. Missouri and South Carolina could both use some in-conference rivals, especially one with a trophy game (which I think the conference should have some more of, personally)


That said - if that's what it is - it looks like it's staying in South Carolina for the year:

If it is though, I also have to say I'm disappointed with the blandness/genericness of the trophy.

Especially coming from a school with a history of trophies such as the Tiger–Sooner Peace Pipe (Oklahoma Missouri ), the Victory Bell (Nebraska Missouri ), the Indian War Drum (Kansas Border War (Kansas ), and the Telephone Trophy (Iowa State Iowa State )

So did it come from the universities themselves or from elsewhere?

There are a few SEC trophy games, though the best (Beer Barrel) one was discontinued for PC reasons.

Egg Bowl has a golden egg
The SEC manufactured Arkansas-LSU rivalry has the Golden Boot
LSU-OM have the Magnolia Bowl Trophy
I believe there is a trophy for the Iron Bowl as well.
