If the only post season invitation we receive is from the NIT, Then Coach Pearl should make the very most of it for the benefit of next year's team.

You can put any kind of spin on it you like, I've watched it going back and forth on this board all season. The bottom line is that Tyler Smith and Wayne Chism have both played selfishly and with their own agenda all season long. Some of the time their agenda overlapped with the team's and good things resulted. Most of the time, the only thing on their minds was auditioning for the NBA. Proving that they could knock down those 3 pointers like a small forward is supposed to do in the NBA. Proving that they are tough and have a strong inside game which is also expected, even if it means dribbling into 4 defenders and forcing up a prayer to maybe draw a foul when they had 3 teammates open. Neither one of them is ready to make the final cut of a NBA team. They'll both end up playing in Europe and probably making good money. The problem is, both of their dreams is to play in the NBA. They should both realize that one more year at UT could still make their dreams a reality.

If they do not realize that by now, and they both plan on leaving, then Coach Pearl should give them an ultimatum. He should inform them and the rest of the team that the team he plans on putting on the floor, from the opening game of the NIT, will be made up solely of players that will be here next year, PERIOD!
Everyone agreed that Tyler held back last year and took a back seat to the two senior leaders so as to not steal their spotlight. Who's to say that all of the supporting cast don't have the same mindset this season. Give them a chance to play together without the two "Future NBAers" and find out what they can do, win or lose. We may all be surprised, including Coach Bruce Pearl.

Screw that, if UT doesn't get an NCAA bid they should forgo the NIT and skip to the CBI. They could probably at least advance to the finals in that.

I disagree with this. What I have seen is Tyler Smith try to take too much on his shoulders because the youth on the team has been too tentative. I think Tyler is just trying to make something happen and Wayne is just inconsistent. I do not question their dedication to the team.

We should be able to make a heck of a run in the NIT, well unless we run into Temple, Ole Miss or Auburn

The last is an auction system, in which owners bid on players using a ... day in
the fantasy football season, despite the fact that no games are played. ... In
some leagues if there is a voting period and a trade referee in place, ... the
player's past and expected performance, defensive match ups, and so on.
