Hannah Wilkinson recently scored for her New Zealand national team in EACH of two games against the United States--best national women's team in the world. And how many goals did she score for UT against SEC competition this year? Zero. Had five goals for the year, all very early in the season against lesser teams like James Madison, Mercer and Davidson. She is a very good player--but her inability to help with scoring in SEC games was a big reason why our season was bad. And next year the team won't have it's other good player, Brown, who had an excellent season but was/is a senior.

a plethora of reasons:
1. Her coach may not have utilized her in that role
2. Maybe her NZ teammates can get her the ball at a better place and pace than her UT team.
3. Maybe she has a higher desire to score for the NZ team
4. Maybe defenders knew her skill and focused on her more.

I'm sure the Lady Vols will bring in some more players!

I used to play left back defender, just serious defense. But the few times they put me up top, I went wild and daring to make something happen. Then, they just put me back on defense, not encouraged to wrap around and go forward.

I remember when I coached, I had a big boy who wanted to play goalie and he was a pretty fair goalie. But one game, just for the hell of it, we put him at forward and he tore it up! We said, Damn! But ... next game, we needed him back at goalie.
