My apologies... yes Lady Vols won 7-0

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tuesday was the Tennessee rookies' time to shine as Erin Gabriel fanned eight over five shutout frames and Rainey Gaffin hit her the first home run of her career as the No. 8/8 Lady Vols took a 7-0 win over Murray State at Lee Stadium.

Tennessee (24-6) scored one in the first and two in the second before piling on four runs in the fourth as the Lady Vol pitchers limited Murray State (7-13) to just two hits and one walk.

Gaffin went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double and three RBIs. Fellow freshman Lexi Overstreet had a strong outing behind the plate, going 1-for-2 and throwing out a runner at second. Raven Chavanne was 2-for-2 with one RBI, two runs, one walk and one stolen base. Lauren Gibson and Kat Dotson each had one RBI. Melissa Brown was 1-for-2 with a run.

Gabriel improved improved to 4-1 on the year, ringing up eight batters and allowing just two hits and a walk over five scoreless innings. Ivy Renfroe struck out four over two hitless and scoreless relief frames.

UT will host No. 7/5 Texas A&M for a three-game series this Friday through Sunday. Tennessee will retire legendary pitcher Monica Abbott's No. 7 jersey before Saturday's game, which will be televised on ESPNU at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game is sold out, but tickets for the rest of this week's games against Murray State and Texas A&M can be purchased through UTTix.com.
