In football everyone talks about the concept of depth. Every team wants to have able depth to fill in for the injuries, the lackluster players, etc. but no one ever talks about depth at another level....the coaches.

I say we go out and hire the best we can in all positions. Perhaps some coaches can have multiple areas of expertise that overlap into other coaches' areas. That way we have depth for whatever comes our way such as coaches leaving (Rodney, Cutcliffe, etc.).

Also having someone who overlaps into another coache's area could create a comptetitive or even paranoid atmosphere where they all fear their jobs and will have an incentive to coach better.

Our biggest problem is that coaches know they're safe and protected. That breeds mediocrity and skate-by performances. Parhaps with a little incentive or reinforcement the coaches will work a little harder in the game to prepare their players, instill discipline, and teach the fundamentals.

Did anyone hear the absurd Chow rumor that ESPN was purveying today? They said that Chow had made a statement that "rumors" that he would take the UT OC job were "bologna"... but if he were ready to leave the NFL he'd be "interested." IMHO that just adds fuel to the fire of a rumor I hadn't even heard yet!

That's called covering your bases. It's also called "show me the money". These guys always want a better offer. With Fulmer taking as much heat as he is, these OC potentials out there are smelling blood. They think if they can get their foot in the door and Fulmer did by chance get booted, they'd have an easy method of moving up the ladder.....not that this hasn't happened here before.

I can't believe someone would get that kind of rumor started. Chow is not leaving the Titans, unless Fisher goes. Bottom Line.

Fisher goes by the end of next season. Chowder has his very own NFL hand to play.
