The Vols have rushed for 2,043 yards this season. Most since 2009 and only the third time we passed 2,000 rushing yards since 2000. We will even have a 1,000 yard rusher this year. Some improvement is always better than none at all.

Yes, its good that we can finally run the ball again - but rather sad that we can no longer throw it now that Ainge is gone. One dimensional offences get eaten pretty fast in the SEC. I suspect that will change next year mind you but for now, it is what it is.

More turnovers on defense as well. Palardy up till Saturday has been better.

We are usually pretty good at one thing. Problem is, the game consists of about four or five things.

I think the passing will only get better. Not only was our QB situation not the most favorable but our best and only WR is a freshman and our other WR were young too. I think we will have a more aggressive O-line next year too which may take a step back in pass blocking but will be a lot better better run blocking.

The defense will be A LOT faster next year with Maggitt, Weathered, and JRM playing OLB. We will be able to move Coleman to nickle, Jones will make a push this spring for the CB spot opposite Sutton, and we will also be able to put GOOD athletes on our special teams.

Yeah, he was a baller last year.

Were we really a good running team? How many times did we get stuffed on 3rd and short? Shouldn't a good running team dominate time of possession?

I said we made progression I didn't say not that we are good. But I give up man no one can say anything or point out anything positive and factual without some of you trying to find something negative to say.

I honestly believe you guys like the program in a negative state and like being angry.

Wait, so we haven't been able to throw since Ainge left? I'm confused...

Tyler Bray seems to disagree lol

There has been progress, just not steady progress.
It is a process, things have to be changed, but tyey do not change overnight.
I love the fact that our D showed up and played a great game.
I am heartbroke that our O was still to young and thin to make the plays needed to win.
There were some plays that in hind sight the coaches would probably like to have had back. The going for it rather than trusting the kick. I think Palardy may have had a thigh bruse or something. On the last 2 possessions, not burning more time. Those are the small things that could have secured the win. I cannot say that at the time any other coach would have done things differently though. At the end of the day, it was not being able to exicute on the offense. Losing North hurt us badley in this game. Had he not been hurt, we would have put up at least 20pts.
I think fans need to take a deep breath and stop beating up the coaches and players. As for the TSR calling for benching players.... well, Im not sure that's the best thing for the team. Yes, there are some players that still have the Kiff mentality, but it is a fine line.
If those players are motivating others on the field, you cannot take away that spark.
I do not think any are like Bray and causing team problems.

The only real area of improvement over last year: Vols are recruiting better athletes for the future. The rest? Not so much.

This schedule was brutal, not kind to a team trying to build momentum. At one point we are 4-3 with a narrow loss to UGA. A tougher schedule than most face all year, that included 4 ranked teams out of 7.
Then to top it off - we next play 3 teams in top 5! All with more speed.
With momentum and a team that had been through the wringer it was a fighting effort that almost got us by Vandy. Just no confidence and execution which comes from getting beat down by that schedule.
If they can play that hard they can get Ky and hopefully move on.
Toughest schedule I have ever seen, low on talent and overall team speed - challenges your faith. But I hope we can upgrade the team with this class. We need to pull out couple more close wins next year and get back to 7/8 wins followed by another top 5 class to be at least competitive with the big guys - and a hidden gem or two at QB, CB, DLine, WR or RB to really be close to Ala/LSU.
I think Butch gets it done!
Go Vols!
