I am optimistic about next season . In looking at CBjs past performance he was 8-6, 8-5, then 11-2 at Central . Cincci was even more dramatic going from 4-8 to 10-3

reviewing the returning roster and recruiting class ( knowing that their will be attrition , academic issues , and recruiting switcheros ) We have a ton of EEs which could give us some instant help.
1) having seen Dobbs and his massive potential and the steady yet underwhelming progress of Worley , I believe we will have a game ready QB next season at game 1
2) our receivers are very young and have made progress. Most are returning and I expect they will find some game ready guys in the bunch . The receivers and QB were our biggest sore spot and this may very well be a non issue next year
3 ) O line graduation is a scary one ...but we have some incoming talent and alot of big bodies that have gotten some snaps this year .
4 ) the LBs could get some instant help from the recruits ..especially in terms of speed. Maggit and AJ will most likely be back next season. We may have some true depth at LB next season ..which we have not had in 5-6 years.
5 ) RB - with Hurde coming in and Lane returning ( assuming he can stay out of trouble) we may actually be in great shape here .
6 ) the secondary ...we have a bunch of young guys here that have been very green ...the upper classmen are slow . I expect the young guys will mature in the position and play with more discipline and the incoming guys will provide more depth and speed.
7 ) DL - I think we will add a full rotation here with the guys in the wings and the freshmen coming in . depth at this position has been a bane all year ..with the D line falling off near the half. I think more bodies is going to help this problem

Overall I think the team improves ..alot. CBJ has eluded to the hesitance in full contact practice due to depth issues. This should not be an issue going forward . I see some instant contribution from the EE's . Fingers are crossed.

We better be competing against Saban in SEC championship at the end of this season or CBJ is bust.

You gotta admit, watching or reading the occasional fan implosions when the bumps in the road occur is "darned" entertaining. :eek:lol:

Man, it's too bad he didn't go 1-10 his 1st year at Cincinatti. Then we could be extra sure we really got the right guy for the job.

# 3 does not scare me at all...our line has SUCKED all year... under performing at best and good luck in nfl... wish you the best because you are a vol but I will go out on a limb and say not a dam one of them has given their all for Tennessee this year or anywhere close to it.

I agree, however the schedule next year doesnt get any better and we have Georgia and SC on the road. Oklahoma replaces Oregon and we pick up Mississippi on the road. I dont have schedule in front of me but I'm assuming Auburn on the road too since we played in Knocksville this year. GO VOLS One at a time, brick by brick

I think Ole Miss replaced Auburn on the schedule. I think that's a rotating cross conference game. Last year was Miss State. Not sure though. Ill double check.

Aug. 30 Utah State Aggies
Sept. 6 Arkansas State Red Wolves
Sept. 13 at Oklahoma Sooners
Sept. 20 --- Open Date --- ---
Sept. 27 at Georgia Bulldogs
Oct. 4 Florida Gators
Oct. 11 Chattanooga Mocs
Oct. 18 at Ole Miss Rebels
Oct. 25 Alabama Crimson Tide
Nov. 1 at South Carolina Gamecocks
Nov. 8 --- Open Date --- ---
Nov. 15 Kentucky Wildcats
Nov. 22 Missouri Tigers
Nov. 29 at Vanderbilt Commodores

I think we win 9 or 10 next season. Oklahoma will be a big game and could determine how our season unfolds. Georgia loses several more playmakers, Florida is in the dumper, and USCjr is on a steady decline. The Tide and Mizz will be tough, of course, as well as Ole Miss after our bye week coming a month before we go to Oxford.

The biggest point that I tried to make is that I feel certain that we we will have a game ready QB and receiving core. This will open up the running game and will keep the defense off the field. Scoring points will put more pressure on opposing offenses ..and in theory make them more predictable. This in itself gives us a much better chance in several games. Add to that increased depth on the D front and added speed and maturity in the secondary ...we may be pretty good next year

Some more optimism for 2014:

By next year most of the prepubescent girls on this message board will have matured.

If the class hold then we'll have a lot of speed and raw athleticism. There will be some great plays and some mistakes. Don't know how it'll affect the win total but it will be a lot of fun to watch. 2015 is the year we should see a real uptick in competitiveness.

Sorry I tend to strongly disagree.

I think they have given there all, playing Georgia and South Carolina. Then they lost it all at Alabama and Missouri.
