Yeah I get it it’s Dave Hooker. I personally like his podcast. I hate Caleb Calhoun but Dave is ok. I like it when he has Fred White or Billy Ratliff on. This one is Fred White talking about the game. I am sure many will disagree. But it’s pretty informative.

I was with him until he said he doesn't care about qbr and to just look at Miltons stats which looked pretty good at face value.

My opinion, if it’s worth anything…..we played flat! We were better than they were and we played flat. They came out inspired, hyped, reminded me of GA State, without the outcome of GA State. We were clearly looking ahead and that’s fine, because we were just better. Our roster was better, coaching was better, only thing they had was it was their Super Bowl and they played like it. We play that game as the first game it’s 65-70 to 10-13.

QBR has been shown time and time again to be a flawed metric
Why don't we compare qbr with qb draft picks prior to tossing out that qbr is a flawed metric. I personally think that it has proven time and again that it is a pretty good measurement of how effective quarterbacks have played. It objective while Fred's comments and some others are subjective. To say that AP played the game of their lives is also a reach. We just need to play better this Saturday starting with Milton. If we play as we are capable of we win. If we play like last Saturday we lose. Milton needs to complete a few passes over 10 yards to loosen up the Florida defense. We are pretty easy to defend if he isn't accurate on mid range passes.

One thing that's overlooked is that AP did play way over their heads. They played as good as they can.

Yep, and with the weather delay and not being able to Run Through the T. LOL, I've heard more fans say how disappointed they were not seeing that. Peay had a good offensive game plan with a lot of shifts and motion. Rarely did they put their QB in harms way, had him moving and rolling out. Timely blitzes on defense as well. Combine all that with 3-4 dropped passes (the screen pass that Small dropped was going to be a TD) and some very questionable officiating............

The passes weren't perfect, but if receivers get their hands on the ball, they should be caught. There were 4-5 of those dropped. The screen pass Small dropped would have went for a TD. At least one, maybe two pass interferences weren't called in our endzone.

The sky is always falling vol supporters will not approve of these thoughts!

One team was playing very inspired football - the other team just showed up - the entire tone changed with that one punt and the non-call. Had that happened in the first quarter, fans and team maybe wake up and get into the game.

I honestly think they were just going through the motions Saturday. As has been mentioned already, AP was playing with nothing to lose so why not chop block, target guys, and try everything possible to get UT to implode. It almost worked too. I believe Milton even mentioned something after the game about needing to play more focused instead of having the mindset of ,"it's just Austin Peay." It may just be me but it seemed like we had a lot of 2 and 3 deep guys out there in the second half on both sides of the ball. I hope that was by design instead of guys getting hurt in a throw away game like this. I think I would rather play a big time opponent in the future and get beat rather than play a team like this that is going to take cheap shots and potentially get people hurt.

In just a brief rewatch it looked like there were almost as many drops of on target passes as off target passes.

I have never agreed with the idea that if you can touch it you should catch it. IMO, there were about equal numbers of passes that were uncatchable, tough catches not made, and straight up drops.

I am definitely not one of those fans already calling for change at QB. Plenty of blame to go around. But a concern that's kind of been in the back of my mind for a while is that Milton throws the ball so hard that it is more difficult to catch than others. I hate to think it... but could he have too much arm?

This was their superbowl opportunity to make a name. If you look, they were pretty happy with how the game turned out, even getting spanked 13-30. You can see the coach's face and team as they shake. They are pretty happy not getting blown out and showing real fight. A moral victory for them indeed.

I completely agree - the qb needs to pick it up, The receivers also need to pick it up. I will say It is almost impossible to catch a pass with that velocity behind you with a db's hand in the mix and I agree Small had a touchdown on an easy screen if he doesn't run before he catches it.
