1. I really hope Jordan McRae got "it", so to speak. He's played better, and we really need a wing scorer next year, especially if Golden stays at PG. He can still be a 15 ppg scorer in the SEC.
2. I know people are down on Kenny Hall, but he still has provided solid minutes. He has his bad moments, yes, but I think he can still get better.
3. The offense isn't pretty, and can be frustrating, but there are three reasons why: 1) Going from a flex to a motion offense is a completely different animal. 2) We don't have anybody outside of Golden and McRae than can create their own shot on the perimeter, and even they are inconsistent. 3) We don't push the ball, which means we can't grab cheap buckets. While that's the style of CCM, and I like that, sometimes you can struggle to get into a flow.
4. I love the defense. They are getting better every game. Especially Golden and McBee. They were bad at the beginning of the year, but both have done better. They are rotating better, doing a better job hedging, and the off ball is getting there. Next year's team is going to be a monster on D.
5. I still believe in Trae Golden as a caliber point guard in this league. He's in a funk, but he was also in a funk during December and snapped out of it. Part of it is that he's not a good ball handler, so quicker opponents give him a really hard time. Trae also tries to do too much because, well he has too. Also, I think it hurts playing almost 35 minutes a game. Zaps his energy and legs late.
6. I cannot stop being excited about Jarnell Stokes. I mean, he's going to get better and better. He's already putting up double-doubles, what's he going to do next year? Potential to put up a 20/10 if they run the offense through him next year. What an ambassador for the program.
7. I started a thread about a month ago about how Martin is working hard in Memphis, and I still think we have the chance. We are players for three top 50 players in the area, and the more Memphis struggles, the better. Stokes could open up a huge pipeline.
8. Despite the record, I think Martin has done a good job.The improvement of multiple players, the defense, and also the two big upsets are really nice to see. I've only truly felt bad about one loss, and the rest are understandable. I'm excited because after Tuesday, the hardest part of the schedule will past, and UT can make a run and finish strong. I'm very excited about the future of the program, and Cuonzo Martin is doing a very good job with the program.
Go Vols!!! :hi:
