There's something I notice that I notice far more than anything else. Bad angles. This team could have a good defense. They've shown they have the concept and enough talent to at least be respectable. But everytime we get beat its because our players are taking bad angles. Not getting out run or out schemed, just taking bad angles when going for the tackle. I sure as hell hope Butch addresses this as he certainly has'nt at this point. He said it himself, but if you're gonna give up a big play make it a 20 yard gain, not a fifty yard score. Learn how to go from breaking to bend but not break.

It's because they're used to tackling our best guys in practice. And, by comparison, our best guys are dreadfully slow compared to other teams. Our players simply aren't ready to attack other teams with real speed.

Youth is a big part of it, along with no speed to contain the outside. Those two things are killer. We do have a stud in Randolph though.

Come on now! They gave up one huge play foe a touchdown! We turned the ball over 6 times and only lost by 14! No one can win with that many turnovers! Worley played better in the second half! This game(besides the turnovers) looked a lot better! We lack depth, and talent! We are headed in the right direction!

Yep. The scout team is basically Austin Peay.

Defense played a pretty good game, seen signs of improvement.

The reason you see improvement is because we didn't play Oregon this week. This defense is not ready to take on opposition with any kind of speed. We need better players and recruiting is the only way that will get fixed.

One thing I've noticed about the angles is that they are right often but look worse because we are HORRIBLE at setting an edge and forcing things back. Our corners and ends are ATROCIOUS at forcing and edge. You see us just missing getting to the football because where we should be forcing the play back to help, we are giving that up. Jordan Williams and Jacques are particularly bad at is. So is Coleman. If we could set and edge, we would have held them under 100 on the ground.

This ^

1) Speed - We looked slow against Oregon, but so does everyone else. We really saw the lack of speed today.

2) Youth - Our guys need experience. A large part of football is knowing how to react to a situation CORRECTLY. This comes with experience.

Just hang on guys. Butch still gets it.

They weren't prepared to defend Florida's 2nd string QB Murphy who ran all over the place. He made both our QB's look pitiful. Disappointing loss. Thought this team would have played with more of a chip on their shoulder, but they didn't. CBJ has to look to someone else to QB this team. It's not Perterman or Worley.

Play of the game was when Driskel was injured. If he was still in and Worley starts whole different ball game.

It's not just angles: We don't have enough players on defense, clearly. We are very weak at DE and outside LB. We've got about two/three good players on D. The D played well in the first half--but in keeping with the way things are with this program, they played badly to start the second half and that was the ball game.

One player no one is giving any credit to this year and who was beaten up pretty good last year is Palardy. Puting is better, hitting more into the end zone and hitting field goals.

the angles would look alot better if we were alot faster

CDD recruited for the 3-4 ...we have LBs and interior DL that are 3-4 guys playing in a 4-3. That is one of the reasons that they put brent in as a backer ..to brings some speed to the position. Most of them are far to big ..and slow to be 4-3 backers

Maybe we should invite the track team to practice and chase them around the field.

Then we can treat them to some el loco tacos!

Absolutely. How on earth are we still this bad after last year. I thought it was Sal, but with a totally new staff we are doing it again. Is this not a basic concept of successful defending? Weird.
