There are two schools of thought about Coach Cut.

1. Wow! Look at what he did with our team as OC. He took us to the NC game and then went to Ole Miss and left with the overall best record of any coach in the last 40 years there.

2. Yeah, but how often do you get to coach a guy like Peyton and Eli?

Both of these are very legitimate points to make.

I'd like to add one more point.

Why do you think Archie and Olivia decided to direct their offspring towards UT at the first, and then to Ole Miss with the second? What was the criteria they were looking for when deciding where their sons would best mature and have a shot at playing their game at the next level?

From 1990 to 93, David Cutcliffe was the QBs coach at the University of Tennessee. It was during that time that a QB by the name of Heath Shuler was molded into the #2 overall pick in the 94 draft. If you were going to direct your sons to a team in the South, who better to send them to than the most proven QB coach in the nation? Cutcliffe has had good talent to work with, yes. Other coaches have had good talent too, but none of them compare to the progress Cutcliffe has had with Quarter Backs over the last 15 years.

Cutcliffe will turn Ainge into NFL material and he'll turn Cromton into a a first round draft pick if he's given the opportunity.

The only thing that might be a hindrance is if he gets another shot at a head coaching job.

We could really not do much better than Cut if Fulmer is to stay. Because, unless Fulmer leaves, his system stays.

Cut knows it and knows how to win within it.

I believe we'd be foolish not to give hime the chance.

Great post, a lot of people want new blood. Well new blood may not know what it takes to win against the best SEC defenses. People say the SEC is down this year. But I think the SEC is just fine. It has evolved into a defensive league. It'll be interesting how may SEC players are chosen in this years NFL draft. Coach Cutcliff knows what it takes to win in this league. Fulmer would need to surround him with quality assistants who can develope talent and instill discipline.

True. Les Miles at LSU has looked truly overwhelmed at times...
