I have already been doing my research on the 2011 Prospects and one thing to be encouraged about is the talent pool in Tennessee. I am not from Tennessee so I don't get as upset as others on here when we don't pursue, or get the best talent from the state, but I definitely understand it. Something the previous class didn't do that I'd love to see us do is really focus on the Memphis area. I know its a good 5-6 hours away but it is in state and we are Tennessee. I am already excited about the 2011 prospects and these are a few I'd like to see us get a head start on in state...

Jabriel Washington
Lonnie Ballentine
Antonio Richardson
Hunter Long
Terry Redden

Tennessee's pool of talent in 2011 looks better than in previous years but we always seem to lose the best in-state players.

Question--the lack of talented players in Tennessee is talked about all the time.....but what is the quality of HS coaching in Tennessee compared to other states that produce a lot of players?

Far more talent in Atl and North GA. But that being said, no reason we shouldnt pull the top 4-5 players in state if they match our position needs.

Dont leave out the future pro QB Bo... whats his name? JK! I think we have a coach now that understands how important it is to get the best in state talent and not just give it word service. We need as many Volunteers as we can get and win with!
Go Vols!!

I'm not sure about other states but if I'm not mistaken the thing is in Tennessee Head Coaches and assistants (paid by school system) must be certified teachers. In other words you can't just hire a football coach. Most schools do (hire coaches to coach) but they also have to be aware of what kind of teaching certifications they (Coaches) have i.e Math, History etc.. but also how that matches with available teaching positions in the school system.
