Before we go calling for Fulmer's head again, this is something to consider. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, just putting it out there. This came from the "Ask Griff" column when he interviewed Stallings.
Tennessee fans want more than a consistent winner. They want an offense that's more exciting and unpredictable. They grow tired of Fulmer's coachspeak and undying loyalty to his assistants.

You want to know the irony here?

Alabama fans were saying the same thing about Stallings in 1996, four years after he delivered a national championship to Alabama.

It got to the point where the Tide's athletic director then, Bob Bockrath, was saying some of the same things.

That was enough for Stallings to ride off into the sunset, back to his ranch in Texas.

It's only just now that Alabama is recovering from Stallings leaving nine years ago.

The message: Tennessee fans might want to be careful what they wish for, even if the Vols lose to the Tide.

Typical Griff. He must be Fulmer's PR man. The difference is that Stallings' teams were fundamentally well coached but offensely dull. Look at this season with all the talent we have and you can't say that abour PF>

Nothing wrong with having a steady ball control offense, but there's a few things you need to make it work:

1. You still need to move the ball. Keep the play-calling varied at least a little, or they WILL figure you out.

2. A ball control offense needs to be backed up by at least somewhat of an explosive element. Playing close ball control, you will end up getting behind a lot more and you need a player or two who can make the big plays when necesarry. Tennessee has no such threat. It basically means that if you're behind in the fourth, you're screwed.

Well, at the risk of being accused of not being a Vol fan, I am going to say that I am already moving on from this loss. Yeah, I hate it, but in the grand scheme of things this season is just one of many past and hopefully many more to come. I have been through losses to Bama, but I have also been through some fabulous wins. So this season is down the toilet.
So what? It's just entertainment.

You have to be disciplined and play mistake free football to win with a ball control offense. Two things this squad is incapable of right now due to many factors. We have little chance of being explosive with Rick Clausen under center and evidently we cannot be a smashmouth football team with our O-line. We are without an identity right now.

My sincere hope is that Fulmer will do a Joe Pa this year and realize that he might not have all the answers in his braintrust so maybe he should seek new blood and a new attitude. It's worked well for Joe Pa this year and it could work well at UT. My sincere fear is that Fulmer is too stubborn to make any changes on this staff.

There is no excuse for UT to be ranked around 100th in the nation on offense. There is no excuse for our special teams to be so bad.

The bottom line is that we don't deserve excuses from a man who makes 2 million dollars at a public university to coach football. We want answers and problems fixed!

we need to pay frank beamer to come to coach special teams then mat leach to come to coach our offense.
