Was I watching an American Football game or a Comedy at the Theater last night?

* Having wrestled the momentum from Florida, if we stop their next drive, its game on then, Hadden decides to chest bump the RB instead of tackling him - game changing
* The ref trips over the ball on 4th and 1 then the zebras allow substitutions- please explain that to me
* Castles is called for a "block in the back" when he hits the opponent in the chest - thats a real head scratcher
* Another 4th and 1 and everybody and I, include Kirby Herbstreit, knows they are trying to draw the D offside, yes we jump offside - bonehead play of the day and there was some serious competition for that award
* Tennessee, the fastest team in the country get called for a "delay of game" - obviously that could only happen against Florida
* Our Defenses` tackling was more unstable that Joe Biden climbing the stairs on Air Force One - At least I remembered his name which is more than Biden can do
* Hadden (yes him again) actually turned his head and faced his opponent when he decided to fight him - pure Groucho Marx
* People actually think Joe Milton was the reason we lost last night - NO

Seriously I am still in a daze and am actually quite worried for this season after such an abject performance especially as this was after a "players only" meeting and Slaughter, Mincey and Sampson were all "unavailable" last night

The refs didn’t “allow substitution”. Milton walked 8 yards towards the sideline to get the next play call and Florida substituted because they knew they had plenty of time.

Yes the officiating was horrid, worst I ever saw… but they’re still not the reason we lost. We need to stop blaming the refs and recognize that it was due to hilariously bad discipline and offensive line play on our part. It never should’ve gotten to the point where we needed to come back.

I have no inside info but the timing is strange for all the events below to transpire all at once:

1. Three dresses players didn’t play. One is your best corner. You are playing on the rd vs a rival. Hmm.

2. Players only meeting

3. Defense was atrocious. The lack of effort was surprising as it wasn’t just FL breaking tackles. It reminded me of last Vs USCjr.

4. Ply calling/offense - just a strange night. Delay of game penalties.

It was a bad night and reminds me of past years that I rather not discuss or ever see again.

Comedy of errors is right! Agree with your analysis and I too am pretty concerned about the rest of year. Through the first three games, and especially last night’s game, they look uninspired, unprepared and are making too many mistakes and penalties. The O-line is especially concerning. I was hoping the first couple games when it happened were just due to the level of competition. I hope they recover.

I agree with everything ... but in regards to Milton, I think the problem is that the staff clearly doesn't trust him to throw downfield or into what could be tight coverage. We are throwing a high percentage of passes which are either behind the line of scrimmage, at the line of scrimmage or within five yards of the line of scrimmage. That was not our passing attack the last two seasons with Hooker in the game.

The ref tripping over the ball and then allowing substitutions is the goofiest thing I've seen in a while. That was rotten.

Maybe watch closer. The ref went and stood over the ball, stopping us from snapping it, so UF could substitute. Heupel got in a ref’s face for it.

He threw two beautiful passes on our touchdowns. What more does he need to do?

He has thrown a bunch of beautiful long balls. His touch passes have drastically improved over last year yet we run up the middle and throw bubble screens all night. I don't remember any passes in the 10-20 years range at all.... and third and a mile and we run it????

Help me understand the play calling last night.

He did. But those bounce passes were bad.

Do the players even trust Milton? Is that what McCoy is saying?

"I can't really pinpoint it exactly," said McCoy when asked about the struggles after the first drive. "We came out fast, started fast and then sort of lost the momentum a little bit. Me personally, I think we started thinking back that we couldn't do it again and we just had. It's a mindset thing. It's a confidence thing. It's trusting one another in what we are capable of doing. It's really just that."

I know I don't trust the players. To my mind these guys are pros since they're getting NIL money and they sure didn't look professional out there. The loss isn't the point. It's the horrific lack of effort. I just don't understand.

Also shades of South Carolina maybe? Some people who were critical to the game, which was important, didn’t go for various reasons, there was also a players meeting (not sure the timing of) .. away also night? game where the other team was super hyped up, and we looked shellshocked
