former CPF is laughing like heck......Our program has hit rock bottom in ways it never did with Phil at the helm. I am not saying it wasnt time for Phil to go, as it was, but Hamilton really screwed up the foundation.

I believe Hart will right the wrongs regardless of people stating he is a Bammer grad. Hart has done well everywhere he has been. I believe in the man to have integrity, charisma and class.

Vols may suffer a few more down seasons, but will inevitably get it turned around. I think with the Dooley era the program just stayed in a state of limbo. Dooley knew he was way over his head. I believe Hart may already have his man lined up or at least a short list of men he knows will turn it around (with coaching experience as per his presser).

I agree. There was an opportunity to move the program forward at the end of Fulmer's era and the reality is that we muffed that opportunity.

Hart has no ties to either Dooley or PF and I'm sure he is going to make sure the next hire is in UT's best future. Who knows...he just might interview PF.

I will say it: It was NOT time for him to go.

I can hardly believe that Phil Fulmer is happy that his alma mater's team is terrible, that the finances are in shambles, and that they have lost all national relevance.

Hamilton did Phil dirty, but he still loves UT. From all indications, he loved UT when he left, and he loves them now.

Charisma? Let's just hope he can do the JOB.

This. Im not sure why there is so much hate for PF. The guy always had UT football in the top 25, competing for SEC championships, and even won the first BCS NC. And he got fired for having a couple bad seasons and mediocre recruiting, which happens to every program out there.

But this speaks volumes of a lot of UT "Fans" - Very little appreciation for the accomplishments of players and coaches who give their all for UT.

I guarantee CPF is NOT laughing about the state of our program. He lived and breathed Tennessee football. He is sad like the rest of us that Vols have fallen so far.

There you go. You are arguing with young, zbox game people who expect perfection all the time. My generation appreciates all he has done.

what if Hart reached out to PF and offered him another chance to redeem himself again?? would he be a wise hire after hes been out of coaching for 4 yrs?? would be even take the job??? thoughts??

I think everyone is misunderstanding what I am trying to say. In some weird way Phil is saying "I told you so". He believed he could turn it around, but the fanbase was so apathetic back then.

Do I believe he is laughing at our program, no, but at the same time I do think he feels vindicated in a sense because Vols have gone through 4 seasons of pitiful football. Lane Kiffin was subject of rumors for possibility of being replaced at USC.

I know Phil loved and still loves this program very dearly.

I wish he would. His firing was the single most stupid idea ever in TN history of athletics.

Phil Fulmer is a HOF coach and he did Tennessee proud, but somehow the game passed him by. He is one of the best coaches in Tennessee history, but it's time to move on and get behind another new HC. We ought to be excited about Tennessee's future. :twocents: :crossfingers: BTW , hammy's treatment of CPF was shabby and very disrespectful, he deserved better.
