AP was asked one of those over under questions this week in a podcast…the first time was about recruits…the same episode he was asked the same question about returning seniors…he more or less said two more recruits is a given and two Sr returners in each position group was very likely…based on that I came up with what I believe is a fun question for this forum…

So…you can have two more recruits AND two Srs at OL, DL and DB….who you got?

Here’s mine…Seaton and Bates as recruits…Mays and Mincey on the OL…Thomas and Lott on the DL…Slaughter and Walker at DB

Hard to argue with yours. But I’ll go:

Seaton and Elias Williams (really hard not to go with Bates, though)
Mays and Campbell
Thomas and Lott
Jeudy-Lally and Slaughter

I think Campbell is likely gone and Mincey likely returning. Mays and Spraggins are the wild cards.

I think we’ll get more than 2 of the remaining recruits, though, including the 2 you want. I think we get Seaton, Bates, and Smith. Feel pretty good about Mikell and Williams is a crapshoot.

I actually think we get all of Walker, Slaughter, and GJL back. They won’t be drafted.

On the DL, Baron is gone, but I bet Omari, Lott, and Eason all return…which is huge.

I would be pleasantly surprised if Big O comes back

I like it…I like it a lot…

I should have included the caveat that part of my picks on the returners was based on my own feelings on their probability of returning…

I feel Eason and Simmons are almost certain to return and Baron is almost certain to go so that pushed me to wanting/hoping that Thomas and Lott stay…

I feel Campbell is almost certain to go and Spraggins is leaning that way so I can’t say that didn’t effect my feelings on my OL picks…although I probably could have said “Mays and an OT” and that would have captured what I hope for…

In the secondary, I feel really good about our young CBs and I think Lally is coming back…I also like our NB situation so I really want some safeties to come back…and yes I include Slaughter in that because i think that’s where he’ll be when the young CBs step up next year

Agree. Start GJL and Gibson at CB, move Slaughter to S, where he’s more natural. The development of Matthews and additions of Beasley and hopefully Bates give us depth at CB.

Mincey and Norman-Lott are juniors so they shouldn't be part of this conversation. I doubt either enters their name in the draft. Norman-Lott particularly, has a chance to make himself a lot of money with a big year next season. Mincey could be shifted back to left tackle (his preferred position) next season.

This is only about seniors? Not draft eligible juniors?

I’ll go Seaton and Bates

Mays and Campbell
McCoy and Dee
Thomas and simmons
Judy Lally and Slaughter

Pretty sure mincey and Lott are jrs

Omari is a borderline 1st round pick, no reason for Him to stay.

Yeah…I didn’t want to get bogged down in details too much…but that’s a fair point…they aren’t seniors so by my own rules they shouldn’t be in the conversation…but if anyone wants to include players like that then I won’t ban them from this discussion 😂😂

I agree 💯 about both players…Mincey goes back to LT and we bring in a transfer at RT or maybe someone like Grant or Umarov steps up and takes the spot…as talented as Seaton is I’d hate to see him be more than a backup next year…and as far as Lott goes…he could definitely make himself a lot more money by coming back another year

Well…since I am the ruler of this domain i shall allow draft eligible juniors into the discussion…😂😂

Seriously…as I said in my last post…I didn’t give the details of this question a ton of thought but I think draft eligible juniors should count…basically I’m thinking/saying “of all the players we could potentially lose at each position, which two do you want to lose the least”…

I like your picks BTW…if all of those players are on the roster next year we will be in really good shape

According to who? AP thinks he’s more likely than not to come back. If he’s drafted at all, it’ll be late. Haven’t seen a single prognosticator that has him being drafted (which, I agree, seems ridiculous, but it’s still the case).

I wouldn’t put Simmons in the discussion. He’s coming back. Unless he just wants to quit football.

I would think Campbell and thomas are the only ones that for sure will go. I’m holding out hope on the others.

What AP thinks about this carries as much weight as any random poster on this board.

Our fan base always overestimates the draft status of our players.

Right. Because he doesn’t have any sources the people on this board don’t have. 🙄

Show me one draft prognosis for Thomas that has him projected as a top 6 round pick.

I don’t have any. I’m just saying *this* isn’t something AP is informed on. The things he knows are recruiting from talking to recruits. I doing Omari has told him what he wants to do next year, which is the point I was arguing against.

Whether or not he’ll be drafted high or even at all, I have no idea.

Well a random poster on this board said Omari is a fringe R1 pick. So yeah, AP’s opinion carries more weight.
