The group calls Sotomayor exceptionally qualified on all its key criteria for a high court nominee. It says she has a formidable intellect, approaches her decisions carefully, is unbiased, and respects the powers of the legislative and executive branches.
She was the most qualified female, hispanic, liberal considered.
What bothers me about her, she couldn't have gotten into the schools she graduated from based on her grades alone, she got in because she was a minority. The same way she is getting on the SC.
My view on advise and consent is that if the person is qualified to serve (which by all accounts she is) then she should be voted in unless there is some serious issue (crime, major conflict of interest, etc.) that comes out in confirmation hearings.
I don't agree with her views but at this point if I were a Senator I'd vote to confirm.

If I was a senator I would have to agree with you here.
I would also remind my democratic colleagues that this is the way it was supposed to work a few years ago as well.
My concerns over her would still stand but after all she is qualified.

Roberts and Alito should have been voted for, IMO. They were legitimate nominees...but I'm throwing advise and consent out the window on Harriet Myers...that was batshit crazy.
was it crazy or brilliant. Bush nominates someone remotely not qualified. repubs go crazy, she quits. then bush nominates a qualified judge and it seemed the fight wasn't as tough as it would have been if myers were to go before confirmation hearings.
Would he really do that to a long-time friend? It marginalized her like crazy.
If he was willing to do that, and that was his goal, then I would say it worked....
...but I don't think that was what he was doing.
