University of Florida football student-athlete Sharrif Floyd must sit out two games and arrange repayment of approximately $2,700 to charity before he is eligible to compete, according to a decision today by the NCAA student-athlete reinstatement staff. Floyd did not compete Sept. 3 and must sit out the university’s next game on Saturday (Sept. 10).

good news for us

Great, now go post it on a Gator board, cause the term "us" is used by Vol fans, hence the URL-Volnation.com.

What BS. Miami players have to pay under $2700 COMBINED, and Floyd has to sit 2, while some of them sit 1? The NCAA is a damn joke.

Their heaviest punishment was also a lot more games than FAU and UAB, conveniently returning for the UT game.

the ruling was made by the ncaa, not uf.

i could post the story surrounding all this, but imo, this is why the ncaa has a problem and this was total crap.

That I can agree with, but as a UF fan, there's truly not one thing to complain about regarding this suspension.

sure there is.

if you look at this situation and then look at the players at miami with that mess and tell me if the circumstances and the punishments make sense.

the problem i am referring to with regard to the ncaa is the lack of consistency when it comes to violation and punishment.

Question, not an accusation, but I heard that Debose was involved in the same situation that the Miami players were? Just wondering if y'all have any knowledge of that beyond message board rumor.

And Floyd missing FAU and UAB matters none. I get the 'principle' you are mentioning. But his actual presence does not matter/hurt y'all in a big way.

nothing came out because they were cleared almost immediately.

i say they (debose and matt patchan).

i have no idea what they were accused of as part of that. all i know is that they were initially mentioned as having been recruited by miami and potentially having had contact and who knows what with shapiro.

again, i don't know because they were cleared almost immediately and so no one asked any questions as to their involvement after that or what the ncaa might have wanted to know from them.

Hmmmmm. I just heard from my friend who posts on a lot of other boards that Debose was on the same recruiting trip where all this went down and nothing came of it. Didn't know if there was any truth to it.

Is debose starting for y'all, btw?

keep in mind that floyd received "benefits" from an organization that was public as to what it was doing.

in addition, floyd used said benefits to travel to different places across the country to determine where to go to school.

floyd was/is a broke kid who was not making it rain, but was trying to figure out where to go to college.

he should have just gone to a local car dealership and used a "loaner car.....wink wink" to drive across the country and visit various colleges.

So, basically the Miami players missed a tough road game at Maryland, and the Florida player is missing two easy home games.

I agree that the NCAA is inconsistent with its rulings, but I really don't see how a UF fan can possibly be upset here. Now, if the UT game were in Week 2, and they were out two games, that would be different.

Haha. I mean, I'm 110% sure not all of those "benefits" were just used to enhance his academic career and find the best possible school.

Are you trying to make a point in Floyd's favor there? Or?

yea floyd lived with coaches and with friends from 15 on kid had a tough life and people just helped him get around the country for the stuff a recruit has to do

the money was used to travel to various colleges.

the benefits did not come from uf or anyone associated with uf. they didn't come from any other school that was recruiting floyd either.

it's just another situation that makes it that much more difficult for a kid in floyd's circumstances to take the ncaa and their rules seriously.

Debose isn't starting. It is certainly a possibility that he was on that trip with Dyron and Ray Ray since they all went to the same high school. Patchan supposedly went to Shapiro's house with his father who is a UM alum.

Floyd's situation may be a little different in the NCAA eyes. He wasn't accepting money for abortions or free meals, he supposedly took money to make the necessary trips to different schools. Also the school self-reported it, and he never took money to visit Florida. Still, I think he probably got off light given the recent circumstances with the NCAA.

Missing absolutely zero key games is getting off pretty light.

But I do see the point. There is a huge difference between taking money from Shapiro/Boosterss and being helped by someone not associated with football of Florida.

I didn't know the circumstances.

At first I thought you were trying to say it was okay that he took benefits because he was poor, which would have been a whole other conversation.

They need to do players the way they did Pearl. If your suspended 2 games make it the first 2 sec games. And I mean this for every team. Including us.

It was actually Cams Dad. Not saying he did or didn't know what his father was doing. But everyone is blaming Cam and it should be the hypocrit, preacher Dad.
