I have a reliable source close that is close to Steve Spurrier and he has informed me that Spurrier has said that he is "burned out" and that he has told some of his friends that tomorrow may be his last game.Spurrier has also said that he doesn't want his son to be caught in the coaching shuffle by losing his job if a new coach takes over.

I haven't heard much mentioned about this so far but this information was interesting enough for me to post.

Oh, hell no, he isn't retiring! He will keep his butt right there in South Carolina and trick-or-treat with Lane Kiffin next year! Dang it!

maybe after 4 years at USCe, he realizes this is the best he can do there
and wants to leave on a high note

Spurrier isnt' going anywhere. He's already mentioned moving Steve Jr. to QB coach next year and has an OL coach and a WR coach in mind. This is baloney.

The first thing I would do if this happened - is laugh uncontrollably at the USCe trolls - then laugh uncontrollably at Jarvis Giles... who will decommit - then USCe will hire someone crappy - but he then says he likes the guy better than CLK and some how recommits to show his ignorance. Spurrier is the best thing to happen to USCe.... ever... and it hasn't gotten them that far.

From everything I've heard mentioning Spurrier leaving it mainly has to do with making sure Steve Jr will not lose his job.

An Outback Bowl will be a high note in a way,but im sure he doesn't want to leave next season after a 7-5 season in the Music City Bowl or at worse leave after a bad season.

I know a handful of people in the know with the Spurriers here in JC and they just say his career is definitely winding down. Haven't heard he's that close to "winding down", but with his demeanor this year and that talk, I wouldn't be surprised if he did retire. I also wouldn't be surprised if he came back next year with more fire and desire than he's had since he left UF.

I think that fire was put out years ago.

Age has finally caught up with The Ol' Ball Coach,I think he realized that it was coming to an end after he gave up his play calling.

Spurrier's play calling is what gave him the reputation he has as one of the greatest head coaches in SEC History.

For some unknown reason I couldn't give a rat's ass or two dead flies what the Darth Visor does with his life.

. . . after this start by South Carolina, Spurrier might retire in the middle of the 2nd quarter.
