UAB has hired Georgia offensive coordinator Neil Callaway as its football coach, several sources close to the situation confirmed Saturday night.

The school will announce Callaway's hiring at a news conference at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday. Callaway signed a five-year contract with UAB; financial terms weren't immediately available.

Not a good hire by UAB, the same folks who hired this guy (which spent a night in jail for a DUI) fired Mike price because his likes of naked women.

Just proof they didnt want the UAB hire to look more appealing than the coach they finally get to take the job at U of A.

With the same trustees as U of A, UAB will always be held back.

As a Blazer fan, I'm not real happy about this. Callaway has been lambasted at UGA (think about the great job he did this year!).

I thought that Richt called all the offensive plays. I didnt even know they had an OC.

He did until the last game when he allowed Bobo to take this over. Rumor is that Jeff Bowden was going to be the new OC at Georgia anyway, leaving Callaway hanging or demoted. He got out while he could.

I don't know anything about Callaway, but with all of the heat he has taken at FSU, Bowden does not sound like an upgrade for the Dawgs.
