I guess people don't recall Houston beating Tulsa 100 to 6.
Not to mention Georgia Tech scoring 222- 0.

Good old Cumberland College got their clock cleaned by GT that day.

There was apparently some bad blood between the two schools and they agreed to play and set a date. Cumberland then apparently dropped football or whatever. GT was petty and decided to enforce the contract so Cumberland had to go around getting random students to put a football team together.


I also seem to remember a Houston/SMU game that got way out of control. Was when Houston had Andre Ware and were running up scores to boost his Heisman campaign. Believe this was only a year or two removed from SMU resuming play after the death penalty

Cumberland had previously embarrassed the GT baseball team who was also coached by John Heisman. Yes that Heisman.
Coach Heisman was PO'd and had an axe to grind.
And boy did he.....
