"South Carolina, in fact, first targeted Houston’s Tom Herman and was so far down the road toward an agreement, according to two people familiar with the process, that the school’s administration had essentially shut its search process down."

"Those same people, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity, said Herman’s mind changed after South Carolina lost to The Citadel on Nov. 21 and it became clear the next coach would have a massive rebuilding job on his hands. Herman decided to stay at Houston for a deal worth nearly $3 million per year and, presumably, wait for a more high-profile situation."

I saw the USC fans reaction to this. If only they could believe what they are saying.

Tom Herman is a smart man. Dumpster fire while their state rival is flying high.

So they had to settle for somebody dumb enough to take the job.

i personally can't wait for them to start referring to their history. A couple people I knew went to SC and all I would hear from them is history doesn't matter only the now. Now it will be interesting to hear their philosophy change.

The sad truth remains that CBJ was never able to beat Muschamp.

The even sadder truth is that it seems you and some others think the results of a team sport rely solely on the actions of the ones who actually dont play the sport. But by all means, continue to say Butch didnt beat Muschamp. Regardless of how stupid and erroneous it is.

so saban hasn't won all those championships? if you are going to dismiss the coaching factor from losses you would have to remove it from wins as well. and i am a pro butch guy but he never beat Muschamp at Florida. one of their worst coaches ever. it rightfully follows you around. us TN fans are darn quick to point out that Bryant never beat the General.

Nope. Never said that. Football is a team sport that relies more than just a coach to win or lose. Saban won those championships while coaching at Alabama. The coaches dont play. So the players have a huge hand in whether a team wins or loses. As a matter of fact, it could be argued that the players play a larger role in the W/L column than the coaches.

So just stating Butch never beat Muschamp is silly IMO.

Calm down killer, I was simply making an observation based in fact.
