Anything new on Sparky Woods? Shula says he has no info on it....

We've been talking about it on our boards too. The latest info is that Shula knows nothing about it, Woods denies it, and UA has not received any request from UT to speak with any UA coaches, including Woods. In other words, it's a hoax.
But IMHO, Woods was a loser HC at South Carolina and he's a loser asst at UA. So if by chance UT wanted him and he wanted to make that move, you are welcome to him. :shades:

I've tried to say that exact thing. With no disrespect meant, I'd just as soon you guys keep him. That would be a downgrade; which is saying a lot cosidering our pathetic staff.

You nailed that one. A true student from the "Aw-shucks" School of Coaching.

My knowledge comes from experience. I lived in Sumter SC in '86 when the Gamecocks were still part of the ACC. I know what they were like under Sparky Woods....
As I said before, you're welcome to him. :shades:

I hope his son Casey isn't reading this thread. You guys are cruel. Because Sparkey wasn"t sucessful as HC doesn't mean he's not a good assistant. Cut him some slack. Nobody said he's being recruited for Fulmer's job!!

That's a good point. The world is full of guys who are good assistants but not so good as head coaches . . . Joe Lee Dunn, Brad Scott, Pat Sullivan.

South Carolina was not part of the ACC in 1986. They had long since left the conference and were an independent.

I'd disagree; especially on Joe Lee Dunn. Everybody hates preparing for his defenses.
