Just some observations I had today. Although we lost the game I saw some positives from our special teams:
1. Matt Darr was head and shoulders better than he was two weeks ago vs OU (probably because he is not battling that injury anymore). IMO this was a big reason we kept the game close today. Winning on the field position was a big key to our success.
2. Medley was perfect with field goals and extra points.
3. We mixed up some of our kick off strategies (deep, pouch, squib) which I believe was pretty successful.
4. Other than the one punt return, our kick off and punt coverage was really good.
5. Devrin still had a Devrin moment when he kind of seemed hesitant when he was bringing the kick off out. Other than that he actually had a couple good returns, which was a pleasant surprise.
Again, I know we lost and I know that it is not ok, BUT....
We are making strides and it is evident. Go vols
