Ekkler needs to heat up his chili a little better. Seems like in every big game, there has been some sort of mistake by special teams that could have cost the Vols a game or two. Whether it's been getting a punt blocked, fumbling a punt, or making poor decision on returning a KO coupled with a penalty that starts a drive back inside the 10 yd line.

Still trying to figure out how an Alabama player came through the center of the line virtually untouched on that game winning FG. That can't happen and I'm not sure how the guy either missed the kick or was only able to tip the ball. Probably divine intervention!

I am aware of the good things that the special teams have done. I'm also aware that may of you love Ekkler because he is brash and he apparently punched out Pruitt (I really like that part too) But, the mistakes have to be cleaned up with all of the possibilities that lie ahead for the Vols.

First, the special teams has made some good plays of late especially in the return game. Second, #47 did not blow thru untouched. He jumped over the line. One could argue that he broke a rule and should have been penalized while another point of view said he went over the guard and not the center. Special teams is showing life and they look to be improving. Right now, I think this team....in it's entirety...is getting the most out of the available talent and I'm loving every play/game. I got zero to witch about.....nada.

Another infraction Bama got away with... while complaining they were "cheated" by the officials. I am pretty sure that ANY assisted jump on a kick like that is illegal. The player used the Bama players to his left and right to push himself over the LOS while those two players held the blockers responsible for that gap. There could have been 3 separate penalties on that play. Two holding and one for the assisted leap over the line

We are extremely lucky that CM was not called for a false start on the game winning field goal. His little hitch before his giddy up, had me holding my breath.
Special teams have made two key plays, with fumble recoveries at LSU and against the elephants. There have been some miscues as well, but they haven't cost us.
As CJH said in todays presser, they have a lot of things to clean up. I'm certain the miscues are being addressed across the board.

UTM game: another missed XP, missed a 46 yd FG, had a 25 yd punt, and yet another poor decision by the returner on a kick off that led to starting a drive on the 15 yd line (picked up a bouncing kick and then tried to run diagonally across the field).

Can't continue to have this many mistakes as the games get bigger.

A kicker can move before the ball is snapped as long as it isn’t forward. He can twitch his knee forward as long as his foot doesn’t go forward. This encroachment is rarely called because it is detrimental to the kick and any abnormal movement or a stutter usually causes misfires. I’ve not looked at Chases foot movement before the kick but he didn’t hit it well.

Vols special teams will end up costing the Vols a game at some point. Ekkler has to get this fixed or get gone

Special teams has struggled some this year but not horrible

No. The offense has been so good it’s just not noticeable. Missed XPs, missing easy FGs, bad decision on KO returns where Vols started inside 10, a couple of fumbled punts…..things that will cost you in a close game

Special teams comes through again with a dumb play which turned the tide of the game. The long punt hit at the 17 yd line and rolled out at the one. Vols backed up and couldn't overcome this mistake and it gave UGA a 2 score lead and gave UGA all of the momentum that they rode on into the half.

Not saying it cost the Vols the game but it sure put them in an early hole and made the comeback much steeper. In games played at the highest levels (like 1 vs 2) must be paid clean. Every mistake is magnified and it was today.
