Speed kills

I remember 6-7 years ago all we talked about was that none of our We'd were getting separation. Now, we just run past defenders. It's not just speed but scheme also. Bama DB's were lost in the sauce and couldn't answer. I want to see if the league feels they can stop us with press man. I feel the only thing that really hurts this offense we got is early penalties like false start and holding that put is behind the sticks.

That was a excellent read.

THANKS for posting the link my friend.

We'll only get better at those things the longer the QB's, TE's and WR's stay with us.

I wish the season would hurry up and start.

VFL...GBO!!!

If bama keeps playing those big slow dbs against Tennessee they have some beat downs coming. The only thing that will keep it close is the refs. When the defense improves which it will it is going to get ugly for the gumps.

Separation is still an issue. When people are talking about separation they are not talking about when you run by someone. They mean when you're on a slant or post and are able to create space with double moves, beating the press and route running. Things of that sort. Those are all negatives on Hyatt's scouting report he has trouble getting separation outside of scheme/speed. It's less of an issue with McCoy and Keyton who are more technical WR's but most times you saw a UT WR wide open it was scheme. I am the furthest thing from a negavol but gotta call it like it is. It's very possible all the WR's are capable of getting great separation on their own but in this offense it's rarely a thing they have to do. 7/10 the ball is going to who it's going to before the ball is snapped according to this article.

They have speed. We won’t truly be able to compete until we have multiple classes with multiple sub 4.3 DBs.. when I say compete compete I mean natty every year
4.4 DB will be fine.

We need the
6'4 300 lbs 4.8 DTs and
the 6'1 235 lbs 4.5 LBs
The 6'4 240 lbs 4.6 Edge players as well.

And a defensive coach that knows how to use them.

We gotta figure out a way to score on Georgia also.

I think when the UGA crowd was so loud & we went to silent count. UGAs D started timing & even if they didn’t sack Hook which they did they messed his timing up, Our receivers beat their D enough to have scored a couple but the crowd noise, Hookers timing off missed receivers etc.. credit UGA D & their fans. IMO it just changed the dynamics of the entire game. Glad to have them in Neyland 23.

We have a fantastic DL rotation and will always recruit well there.. always have
True.
But UGA the past 4 years and Alabama from about 2009- till 2018 were different animals.
Nebraska from mid 1990s as well.

We've been pretty stout for about 6 years on the Dline, but they've been elite. Of course wer were there too in early 2000s.

Wherever we play them, we gotta be more physical and strong up front. Because that is where it all starts. When they went to twin safeties we couldn't run them out of it. And when they saw that we weren't beating their man coverage they started mixing it up and blitzing when they chose to. That was it.

Crowd noise can't be an excuse for getting whipped on offense. Neyland was going 'nucular', and Alabama scored 49 points.

We beat their DBs early Hooker missed 2 TDS overthrew it happens IMO his worst game UGAs D was getting the jump on our Oline they were playing on their heels all game and Hookers game suffered due to it . Crowd noise was a part IMO
Our D was giving points to a lot of teams besides Bama, USCjr scored 60+. We lost at UGA because they got in our head early and never let up. UT was #1 & they felt disrespected & Kirby fired them up and they played their best game of the year IMO.
