Split championship. Any chance?

IF the Gators narrowly beat OSU and the Wolverines paste USC to the wall does anyone else think those pesky AP voters might split the NC by awarding Michigan the title similar to USC getting it in 2003? I could totally see this happening.

Ironically, Michigan had lost twice when 1-loss USC beat them for their fake 2003 national championship in the Rose Bowl. Interesting reversal. I could honestly see it happening again. I don't think it would be justified at all, but the media has an agenda to defeat the BCS.

Yes, I think it is a possibility, especially if Florida wins in a manner in which the AP voters could argue that they didn't "deserve" to win, or if Michigan just dominates USC.

Remember, unlike the coaches poll, the AP is not tied to the BCS at all, and the margin between Florida and Michigan is very, very close (UF has 1,529 points, UM has 1,526 points.)

The difference would be beating a team that has been a unanimous number one for a long time, compared to giving a team with two losses to unranked opponents a third loss. Plus, the Gators would be beating a team Michigan couldn't.

The AP National Championship is every bit as legit as the coaches poll. USC was #1 in BOTH polls going into the bowls in 2003, but somehow #3 in the BCS behind a chokelahoma team that got hammered in their confrence championship game.

Look at the margin again. 3 more voters think Florida is above Michigan than the other way around. If they voted today, with nothing having happened, there could be a different result. You can't envision a situation where 4 guys are convinced to vote Michigan ahead after the games?

I'm not saying it is a probability, but it is certainly within the realm of possible.

it would have be because of some fluky play in the title game that gave UF the win and Michigan absolutey waxing USC for that to happen imo.

and personnaly, i think USC will beat Mich anyway.
