Trying not to start to many threads but is it a reliable radio station when wanting to find out recruiting information or is it better suited for just catching up on sports in general?

99% of the time, it seems like the guys from the sports animal get their information off of random posts from Volquest.

It's always here or on VQ first.

despite what a minority of vocal people on here say, the Sports Animal is a good station. I love listening to it and find it to be very accurate. They don't "break" a lot of news on recruiting because they are generally conservative on what they choose to report and in general spend less time and energy on recruiting than other areas of Tennessee sports. Although I love that the station is so focused on UT sports, I can see where others who may follow another program or professional sports might not like it. If you want sensationalism and wild rumors than find another station, but if you want solid reporting on UT sports, you won't find any better than the sports animal. JMO

You will get reliable info from the Sports Animal... just a week later than if you went anywhere else.

Great station for tennis, golf, and baseball. They only talk about UT when they have to. You are much better off with access to Volnation or other web recruiting sites. The morning show would probably be Ok if they would let Jeff run it, but Mickey Dearstone is totally clueless and a pain to listen to. Don't waste your time.

Exactly my initial thought haha... I highly suggest you do not take any of their "inside" info to be reliable unless you've seen it on VQ/VN first..

If you're looking for good, reliable, sports talk in knoxville, 1180am from 11-2 is the best you'll get.

If Jeff and Will West die the show it would be good. Mikey D. and Heather are a joke. She knows no history of the SEC and Mikey doesn't care! Tony B is much more credible and his sources reliable. Miss Dewey Warner though.

No, I just don't have a lot of respect for "radio personalities" who make unsubstantiated claims and irresponsible comments just to get people fired up. I'll be the first to say that they are not the best at reporting recruiting news- especially "sports talk" but they are usually quick to have commitment interviews. You all can slam Hyams (sp?) all you want, but I appreciate his level headed commentary. He is not a "Vol fan" and that gives him an objectivity that most of us lack. He is fair in his criticism and his praise. He may not say what you want him to, but I'd rather he just be honest. slam me if you want, but that's just my opinion. take it for what it is. I knew when i posted this earlier it would make you haters go crazy.

Basilio has had just as many, if not more, recruit interviews than the sports animal, and he's even gotten interviews that the animal wouldn't touch (Daniel West's high school coach). And, these "wild rumors" that Basilio put out there 99% of the time end up being breaking stories...

I never said anything about Basilio, but since you mentioned his record, what about all the rumors that end up being total crap?
