If SI's last couple of preseason polls are any indication, we might be in for a great season, considering they are usually wrong . . . I seem to recall them picking us in the top 5 in both 2002 and 2005, neither of which turned out swell. This year we're #34 . . . and Arkansas is #24 . . . Yikes. Someone please make the team post this issue up in the locker room's bulletin board.

5 of our opponents are in their top 25...interesting....and 4 of then in their top 12....the only way to look at that is as an opportunity.

I guess we will wait and see........I am thinking about week 5 we will be towards the top.

Think also this is opportunity. Also would like to know how they came of with their rating scheme. Some of the teams look funny up high and some look wierd down lower.

Tn 34 and ark 24......this has got to be based on schedule...at worse these two teams would be equal...no way the hogs rank 10 positions higher.

i think Ark gets some credit for having some kind of offensive identity headed in to the season...they had a great running game last season, and all those young guys including the RB's are back this year...and as you said, the schedule sets up nice for them. potential is there for them to have a good season....i for one think ARK is about right.

I mean, would anyone in volnation complain about ark being ranked 24 if we were ranked in the top 10? just because we are lower, doesn't mean it's not right...

Well...the Outback gets 5th pick from the SEC. SI has UT ranked 6th among SEC teams, behing LSU, AU, UF, UGA and Arky, with SC and Bama very close behind. I guess they assume that the Outback would rather take UT than Arky.

Citrus Bowl 15min drive. Outback Bowl 1 1/2 drive. Hope we do better but if we don't I'll be looking for tickets.

5th? i thought it was third? On SEC sports.com they have them listed, BCS is one, Capital one is 2nd...and then 3-5 is listed in alphabetical order, and they have the Outback listed 5th....

but if memory serves, the Outback usually gets the next selection after the Captial One bowl....then Peach, then Cotton...then Music City, then Liberty, then Independence....

ACtually, here's the info from SECsports.com:
"The Outback, Chick-fil-A and AT&T Cotton Bowls will work with the conference office to determine picks 3-5. The Cotton Bowl has the first preference of teams from the Western Division and the Outback Bowl has first preference of teams from the Eastern Division. The Cotton or Outback Bowl can select teams outside of its divisional preference, but must not select them before the opposite bowl selects from its divisional preference. The Chick-fil-A Bowl has the selection of preference following the Cotton and Outback Bowls."

Well...if UF plays in the SECCSG and loses, my hunch is the Outback will take the Gators.
maybe, maybe not...how many times have the Gators been to the o/b bowl lately? it's almost like us and the Citrus in the 90's...

Plus, i thinkn if we were eligible for the o/b bowl...i think they might want us...esp. if we make some headlines with an upset or two...

God, i can't even believe i'm having this conversation...that says more than anything about where we are right now...HOPING to go to the outback bowl. jeez.
