depends on what Ainge does. Rece might have been thinking Florida was the 2nd game of the year instead of Air Force.

but if he wasnt that is embarrasing to the program to me
plus i thought he ment the two games leading up to florida

i think he was basically saying that if we lost to cal and florida ("two early games") it would be a long year. He doesnt see us losing both of those games so maybe he sees us going 1-1 with the win being against Florida and the loss being to Cal.

I have long lost any regard to what ESPN thinks or says.

He was talking about Cal and Florida but do not underestimate Air Force. They are a classic service academy that plays disciplined and runs their Offense to a T. Their Offense makes the option look fun to prepare for. We are better then them at every position and should win on athletic ability but do not take them too lightly.

Air Force is not your typical ut foe. It is an offense that we have not faced before and could cause us some trouble. We will win but not a big blowout

I understand all that but this is not a good Air Force team, its not like some of their teams in the past. If UT doesn't win this game by three touchdowns there is something wrong.

I saw it......They also had some other really interesting picks for other games....Louisville over Miami, I thought that was an interesting pick....But I heard him say if we lost 2 early games that it could be a long season again....And I have to agree with him....those two early losses could hurt....but if we win those games...and get past UGA....Could we be like Auburn in 2004 and get snubbed of a chance to play for the National Championship? I know I'm probably puttin the cart before the horse but if by some slim chance we go undefeated i think that's a good possibilty of what will happen to us

yeah, big time...i think if we were 2-1 after the 1st three games, i'd dance a jig. cause that should put us at 4-1 headed in to the UGA game....and if that were the case, i'd be estatic with that.

Like I said I really don'y see that happening but I would agree with you, if we just lose 1 game I'd be right there with you.....I really think if we can get past the UGA game 4-1....5-0 would be great but I don't see it.....we can win out the rest of the year.....But who knows? Just have to wait and see

honestly, just on paper, i think Cal, UF and LSU are the only teams that are just "better" than us. i could see 9-3 with that....but at the same time, UGA and ARK games will be tough, but i have to think we should be able to beat both, but won't be suprised if we lose one of the two and end up 8-4.

but you're right...who knows. we start off 4-1, the sky is the limit at that point.

I think we'll be both of them....I think we can take down UGA mainly because they won't have what you would call a really experienced QB and Arkansas for the same reason.....Because I would say that Mitch Mustain will start for them.....but then again, we play them late in the year that could give him time to get settled in

and it's at Ark...traditionally a tough place for us to play....

and i agree about UGA, but we catch them at the wrong time....other than the USC game, the rest of their schedule leading up to our game is as follows: Western KY, @ USC, UAB, Colorado, @ Ole Miss...plenty of games in there to tune up and gain confidence in thier qb situation before we roll in to town...they could very well be 5-0, and riding a ton of momentum.

But, even if that is the case, i would like to think that early season tests against Cal and UF may give us some very good prep for that game, and maybe, just maybe we will be riding a little momentum too as we come in 4-1...

It's hard for me to say that we're going to lose one of the first 3 games but if we lose a game I think is going to be to Florida.....I hope we come into that game 5-0 just like UGA could but hey if not I'll take a 4-1 record....You're right UGA has the right schedule to come into that game undefeated, but remember last year USC had a chance and really should have beaten them and that was in Athens.....I think they'll beat them this year......The only reason I think we could go undefeated in the first five games is because all the tough games in those first 5 games are at home....Cal and Florida....Air Force, Marshall, and Memphis....Ever though its an away game should be easy...Not saying mark them down as wins but it shouldn't be tough

under normal circumstances, in a normal year, i would agree with you....home feild for hasn't made much difference lately, so i don't necessarily think that gives a HUGE advantage right now. But i do think you may be right about USC beating UGA...they catch them at the righ time...2nd game, in Columbia...UGA may not have anything figured out by then, definite trap game for them...

"just on paper, i think Cal, UF and LSU are the only teams that are just "better" than us."

IMO Cal is wildly overrated, Chrissy chokes bigtime under hypesman pressure, and LSU is always bad "wet or dry" (Jerry Clower)

hence the "on paper" preface....all have weaknesses, and are beatable.

After being so pumped up last season , I hate to make predictions of any kind, but I got this itch on the back of my neck like there's a comanche around and I can't see him(Bull; El Derado).... in other words I have a feeling that the Vols are gonna be like a wounded dog ready to bite somebody and a Golden Bear just as well be first.

well, i can say this, if this group isn't hungry, pissed off and have a chip on their shoulder, than i don't know what would do it for 'em. So from that standpoint, if i were a team playing TN, esp at TN, i would consider this a dangerous game. the fans will go nuts at the first sign of anyting positive on offense, and it will feed on to the defense and so on and so on....all they have to do is go do it....

Two words: Misdirection and Overpursue. That is what Air Force HC is preaching. Vols are fast and young. With AF's offense they will try to confuse the young LBs and D-linemen. Chavis' defenses have not fair to well against option teams.

I pick UT to win by at least 10 pts but only because of some late turnovers by AF
