One bad season and the program has hit rock bottom....interesting.

People that think the program has hit rock bottom are probably remembering the last time the Vols fell apart. That was in 2002 when they were ranked #5 preseason and it fell apart then too.

They were thinking that this was finally our year to reinsert UT into the national spotlight.

Well they had the spotlight, and they have literally become a laughingstock around the country. That is as close to rock bottom as you can get with out hitting it.

You have to hit bottom, before you can start the climb back up.
To be honest, I was down after the SC loss. But after yesterdays announcement I felt like we had just won the National Championship.
I'm not happy that Sanders had to resign. I would rather this team live up to expectations and Sanders have a great offense. But that isn't happening and hasn't happened for most of his career. I believe that Sanders is just the first to go. If Fulmer doesn't get this thing turned around then he will be the one on the way out. I wouldn't have a problem with Sanders staying on staff as RB coach or something. I just think OC and QB coach is more than he can handle. Maybe if Fulmer had given him better assistants to begin with this wouldn't be happening.

"Did anybody happen to hear Rick Clausens comments, interesting to say the least "

What did RC say on the show today?

I guess when I think of a program "hitting rock bottom" I think of a stretch of consecutive bad seasons, at least a couple. This season has sickened me as much as anyone, but UT would literaly be undefeated this year if you take away untimely mistakes/turnovers in each loss. The Florida ST play, the Bama fumbles, The GA punt return/missed TD throw, and the SC fumble. It doesn't make the losses any easier to take, but I don't think there is any reason to think there will be a repeat od this next year.

over half the starters on offense and defense graduate from a team that may not finish at .500 and be bowl elgible.

Yeah I would say thats close to the bottom. Its doubtful we will be much better for at least 2 years.

thats definetly true that we graduate a lot of players and we may not be very good next year either but we weren't supposed to be very good last year either were we? it seems like UT has some of their best seasons when there aren't any expectations and can kind of "fly under the radar" so to speak and with a new OC (assuming fulmer actually lets the oc do his job and not be involved as much) and a new wr coach and o line coach the new staff may very well be able to get the team to play some inspired football like the defense has this year. i think we will be just fine next year, no top 5 preseason ranking (thank the LORD!), no expectation to win the SEC, we will get to thrive in the underdog role from the first game to the last game next year, it should definetly be interesting to watch!

GO VOLS!!!!!!

We will be OK if we get the right offensive coaching staff. Tennessee is still perceived as a heavyweight school with lots of tradition. I live out of state and I always am amazed at the number of people that wear Vol athlethic wear and I know most of them never went to school there.

We still have a stockpile of talent and have had some bad breaks this year, so don't dispair.
