Anyone tried it yet?

And do you have an invite you'd be willing to pass my way??

Yeah, I got in a few days ago. Pretty nice actually. The selection is very good. It's very handy to listen to an album without having to acquire it via other means. The advertising isn't all that intrusive and it has a nice, sleek interface.

I could see myself using it occasionally.

OK, I downloaded it at home last night, and somehow was able to download it on my computer at work.

I love it. It's like having an itunes library with every song ever recorded. I'm really tempted to buy the premium subscription so I can get it offline and on my phone...

Finally, this next generation music platform arrives to America. It is a huge hit in Europe and was just unleashed in America two weeks ago. So now, what is Spotify? It is a music player that gives you the ability to stream millions of songs, with full albums to choose from, for free and legally, thanks to it's recent agreement with the music companies. It's free and legal to download. You can do song, artist, or album-specific searches and stream it all from the player. Pretty darn convenient! I don't think there is any other music player quite on this level. Pandora and last.fm certainly cannot compete. Napster and rdio, though less used than the last.fm and Pandora are closest to it in functionality (Spotify claims to have the most tracks). There are adverts with this program, though there are not nearly as many as with Pandora. Its design is similar to iTunes in it's accesibility. The best part about Spotify, though, is the ability to share music playlists with friends or via web link. Get in while you can. Invites are already getting hard to come by.

And of course there is always a catch. You only get 6 months of free, unlimited use. After that you are limited to 10 hours of free music a month. There are adverts, but hardly noticeable. I think it's like 2 minutes to every hour. Not bad!

And here is a crappy commercial for Spotify; enjoy!

PM me if you can't get an invite and I will fish out an invite code for you. They should accept you in a matter of a few hours.

Lastly, here is a great playlist to start you off; enjoy!

Finally the website to download the client;

with a subscription you can get rid of the ads and add compatibility with your mobile device including off-line access

If ya got one of those fancy droid or smart phone thangs and some bucks to spare, then it may not be a bad decision. My brother has it and it is like almost too great.

I was excited to get Spotify and then the first 3 things I searched for, they didn't have. I like it but it's overhyped.

I went to spotify.com and requested an invite and got it roughly 30 seconds later. Either I'm really cool or it's not that hard.

I used Youtube to listen to full songs before, and just glancing at Spotify it doesn't seem like that will change much. Cool idea, but they seem to be missing a lot of music.
