Redshirt freshman Tyler Russell completed 12-17 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns at Mississippi State’s Saturday scrimmage while Chris Relf ran for touchdowns of 62 and seven yards ... The offensive line gave up five sacks when Ole Miss scrimmaged. Right now, Nathan Stanley is running number one at quarterback for the Rebels ... Barrett Trotter and former Gator Cam Newton are starting to separate themselves from the other two quarterbacks at Auburn. Tailback Onterrio McCaleb broke a couple of long runs during Saturday’s scrimmage ... Julio Jones had eight catches for 105 yards at Alabama’s first scrimmage. Jones expects to play healthy all season. He had surgery on his wrist, shoulder and to repair a hernia between the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Quarterback Greg McElroy was 14-22 for 235 yards and two touchdowns at the scrimmage Saturday ... Vanderbilt quarterbacks Charlie Goro and Jared Funk guided scoring drives to end the Commodores’ scrimmage Saturday ... Arkansas struggled against the pass in a 93-play scrimmage Saturday. Wide receiver Cobi Hamilton tore up the secondary, catching four passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns ... Zach Mettenberg completed 10-16 passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns at Georgia’s scrimmage. Aaron Murray was 13-19 for 156 yards and one touchdown ... Chandler Burden had to play defensive end last year because Kentucky had a shortage at the position. He’s been moved back to the offensive line where he’s got a chance to start at left tackle this year ... Stephen Garcia threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to D.L. Moore at South Carolina’s Saturday scrimmage while backup Zac Brindise threw touchdown passes of 36 and seven yards to Brian Maddox ... New coach Derek Dooley is putting plenty of emphasis on Tennessee’s special teams which were among the worst in the SEC last year.
