The top 35 after five races are locked in to start the races, with all others having to qualify as "Go or go homers". A team can break into the top 35 and displace the 35th place team.

Glad to see Jr in the top 10... Great runs for the Evernham boys Kahne and Sadler... Kenseth, Bowyer, Hamlin, Johnson, Gordon all starting slow

He dosent even have a ride. They tried him once in the 21 and he didnt qualify it. He is racing in the Nationwide though.

thanks la. i thought he was suppose to be an up and coming star. guess not

While he has some ability, he never has stood out enough to get a good ride in Cup. He is now probably too old, believe it or not, and not as marketable as other "developement drivers" being groomed by the top teams. Sauter is more old school in that he has worked his way up through late models, ASA, and then BGN which is the traditional course. Today, owners are enamored with open wheel, whether it be USAC type experience or Indy car type, and still look to the traditional way for that next Kyle Busch. But mostly they want to take a young, photogenic, articulate driver who will appeal to sponsors, and hope he/she will be a good driver too, and bring them along in their system.

How many more years will Roush be allowed to have 5 drivers? Looking at the standings, although very early, Jamie McMurray is starting slow again. If Roush had to dump a driver it would have to be McMurray or Ragan but I would release Ragan based on the number of cars he has destroyed.

I think they have through the 09 season. Then Roush will sell one team and I would imagine it will become a Roush sattelite team.
