Spurrier come to Knoxvile

I'm just glad the LSU job wasn't open when he signed for the Cocks. What he would have done with all that talent would have been special. Definitely on par with USC, and Texas.

I heard he did not want to go to LSU because they had already been there and won a SEC title and a national title. He wanted to be somewhere that hadn't done it before.

I still am not sure what to make of his "mixed emotions" quote today.

He'll always be a Gator deep down..I respect what he did at UF...but I'm like him on gameday, I just want to beat the team on the other side of the sidelines regardless of who it is. The bad thing is by the time he gets them turned around with a solid program he'll leave and SC will fall back into the abyss.

Times change, players change, and so do coaches, bring a winner in.

You're probably one of those two dummies that had the paper bags on their heads after the SC game

It pains me to see that South Carolina is already a threat. I thought it would take at least 2 years. The SEC East is going to be a hard place to live over the next few years.

With the coaches here in the conference or even the East and the recruits brought in or even competed over this conference will be hard to come up with an undefeated team for some time. It's a nasty nasty world we're now living in....

He was in the pros for 2 years, then out one year, and this is his first year at SC. He probably recruited some of the seniors that his 'cocks played against and beat.

What do you think the Gators record would be this year if he had gone there instead of SC?

I think one loss at most

Before y'all start jumping the Spurrier band wagon, he's beat two very mediocre teams in Tennessee and Florida. Tennessee is not ranked and neither will Florida after they get beat down by Florida State.

Alabama beat him 37-14 and Auburn beat him 48-7.

he came very very close to beating georiga... are they mediocre too? quit making excuses, he is number 2 in the east, and no one saw that coming this year.

Excuses?

Face it.... The east is not very good this season. Its not like he took over a 0-11 team and then won 7 games. The Cocks won 6 games last year. He's only won 1 more game than Holtz did last season. And it hasn't been too long ago that South Carolina beat Ohio State in back-to-back seasons (2000 & 2001).

And yes, Georgia is playing mediocre this season compared to their teams of the last few years.

I'm not saying that Spurrier is not a good coach... I am just pointing out the band wagon. Look at last week's posts, I predicted that South Carolina would beat Florida. I'm surprised that as bad as Florida's offense is, they don't have a similar record as Tennessee's.

But that is nowhere near the SC of last year. Its a gutted team with much less talent than UT GA and FLA and has shown great improvement esp in the running game as the season has gone on.

You are right, but more than anything else, I think it shows how time warped Lou Holtz was.

This is a great illustration to what a qb's mechanics coach could do for Ainge, confidence in his own performance is as important as his throwing arm.

I really hope you're right Dan because I'm not sure that I've ever seen a guy as physically gifted as Erik Ainge look so lost.

Have you seen any of the Packers' games of late? Favre looks like a deer caught in the headlights.

Yeah I agree...look at what Weiss and Spurrier have done for their QB's. They taught them close skill mechanics and gave them the belief that they could compete with anyone. Both their QB's have played over their performance of a year ago by leaps and bounds.
