He is welcome to coach every Saturday at Neyland and fly the North Korean flag if he wants to.

Steve Spurrier isn't dumb. Even if he didn't believe in what he said, he knows he has to say it, for the future of his program.

You'd think that someone writing for the Orlando Sentinel would know that the naval jack and the Stars and Bars aren't the same thing.

Oh wait, Florida isn't really a Southern state.:p

I've lived in the south my whole life. And I could care less about that stupid flag.

Truly, for most of us the debate about it has become way too time consuming for the merit of the discussion. But for some, its a pretty big deal.

I'm sooooo glad my "Ink is Dry" thread didn't pan out.
That's true. The state that gave America George Wallace and Bull Connor certainly can't have the football coach at their feature university speaking out against ignorance and racism.

I've never understood the infatuation with the Confederate flag. Sure people's ancestors fought in the war yadda yadda yadda, but it's become such a symbol of hate. It might have meant something else, but now it no longer does. Just my opinion

I'm sure the good ol' boys all in a tizzy over this comment wouldn't mind the Ol' Ball Coach if he won the East or an SEC title. Somehow I think they'd end up compromising those beloved principles supporting the Cause if Spurrier led them to the Promised Land.

And Spurrier is from areas that had no love for the Cause as well.

Spurrier is smart enough to know that he has made millions coaching mostly black athletes.

The thing I find most humorous about Stevie boy's statements is his contention "I know I'm not supposed to bring this up but if anybody asked me". I couldn't care less about the confederate flag but if you looked up jackass in the dictionary you would see Spurriers picture.
