Spurrier on Murphy

You mean the one with the broken neck?

On the OP...

While I hate taking a loss, especially to those evil wretches in Tallahassee that have sold their soul to the devil to keep winning against Tennessee as this is the only logical explanation I have for our slide against the Gators...

Murphy played a great game and has some good playmaking abilities. And I think your team will be better for it personally. I would expect to see great things out of that young man if he sticks around another year, which he should. His draft numbers will only get higher if he stays one more year.

I had a chuckle reading a Gators message board after the game. Lots of people talking about how it was "about time they had some luck on their side" in regards to Murphy coming in and playing well.

As a Vols fan (and as the kids say): SMH. Gator fans have to be the most entitled in the country, by far.

Not sure if serious.

Yes. Just because I love my Vols, it's not hard to be objective against a rival team and say nice things about them. Murphy appears to be a talented QB that obviously was overlooked by a lot of people including Florida.

He'll get his trial by fire this year.

I'll give him some slack because it was his first real playing time, but I wasn't particularly impressed with him. Our defense sucks, and while he made a few good throws, he also made plays by taking off running. Better defenses will shut that crap down for the most part. That doesn't mean he won't end up being good or great, but to call his performance against us good is kind of funny.

I don't see UF going better than 7-5.

I did say "appeared" to be.

However, if roles were reversed and he came in for UTs injured QB and did what he did to Florida instead of us and the score was reversed?

The fans would have chartered his own G5 with a hot tub, hired the top 10 Hooter Girls pageant finalists to feed him grapes and rub his feet, met him at McGhee-Tyson and carried him back to the UT campus like a conquering Caesar on his throne.

And at least 200 threads on Saturday alone would have been started on VN exalting the distinctive accomplishments of one Tyler Murphy and the golden future he would hold for us.

Objectivity. The kid appears to be a good athlete, a good playmaker and appears to have the read option down pat. And thus far appears to have been an undiscovered talent in the NCAA.

We can revisit this thread in a couple of weeks and you can tell me I'm wrong if he doesn't pan out.

I'm sure he'll have something similar to say about a South Alabama player after Sat.

UT has a history of creating Heisman cadidates out of their opponents.

It would be hilarious and depressing to see a list of QBs who set personal records against our defense over the past couple years.

I'm sure Spurrier is out at the intramural fields watching flag football to see if he can find a QB that he can coach up and have him throw for 350 yards against UT.

And it would be just as silly if our fanbase reacted that way. It's one game, against a bad team. If he does well against a better team, then we'll talk.
