For anybody that doubts whether Spurrier has a sick sense of humor . . .

From The State:

Spurrier not shy about poll votes

By JOSEPH PERSON

DESTIN, Fla. — USC coach Steve Spurrier does not mind having his final regular-season poll made public. In fact, Spurrier said officials are free to publish his preseason poll, which once again will include Duke.

“It doesn’t matter to me either way. I’m still going to vote for Duke in the top 25 the first poll,” said Spurrier, the Blue Devils’ coach from 1987-89. “I’ve done that for 12 years. I give them an early start. It’s one of my old teams. I’m sure most coaches have their favorite team here or there. I’m honest about it.” . . . .

He can be as honest as he likes. But admitting he puts Duke in his top 25 every year, Tells me never to read another coaches poll again.

That Fla and now SC heat as fried his brain

And people wonder why the polls are so distorted, the media poll is just as bad when the writes vote for their university.

He only votes them for the first poll..and the first poll is pretty meaningless anyway.

It just goes to show that Spurrier is more worried about making headlines and drawing attention to himself than he is about promoting his football team. Not that there is much to promote in Columbia these days but its what he is getting paid to do.
