Curious, how does Spyre communicate with UT on players it’s targeting? I’ve wondered why a forum this large isn’t being used by Spyre to target specific players. “Hey fans, would you like to sign Billy Bob Booker, follow this link.”

according to the "rules" of NIL Spyre is not supposed to be communicating with the coaching staff on who to offer money to, but I think we can all agree that some communication must be happening.

We can have communication with coaches now. However, we couldn’t put up a link to induce a player to come to Tennessee. That would be a violation of the rules. There’s essentially two rules now.
1. Player has to do something to get the money.
2. Can’t be an inducement to a particular school.

I heard that both Spyre and the coaching staff both eat at noon on Tuesdays in different booths that are back to back down at Calhoun‘s. The coaches talk constantly about future recruits while the Spyre guys don’t say a word during lunch. I wonder if the Spyre team are trying to overhear the coaches conversations?

#2 is just as ridiculous as the old under the table system.

Were you trying to set up a way for UT to skirt rules that you thought prohibit communication between Spyre and the staff? (Not a good idea.)

Or were you trying to set up a system that allows anonymous fans to pick who we sign? (Not a good idea.)

Spyre helps student athletes with their NIL rights. That's got nothing to do with who UT signs. *cough*

That said, imagine Spyre getting some amount of money, however small, that they're only allowed to use if working with some PWO long snapper. Their best call is bound to be a nice, generic "give us money, we know what to do with it".
