My McAfee ran out 10/31. Well I just got a spyware infection, other than the obvious renewal action.....is there anything I should do immediately to protect myself?

If you are on windows go to their official website and download their free Malware detector. I just had to reload my OS and start over because the same thing happened to me.

i got rid of MacAfee years ago and the free stuff runs just as well,i would run more than just one spyware removal,i usaully find something that SpyBot doesn't with Adaware and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and two others things i use are Crap Cleaner(cleans up a lot of crap all at once and will stop stuff on startup ,has a registry cleaner too) and Spyware Blaster, here is a link on Blaster

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware, Hijackers, and Malware

I ran several of the above mentioned today.

Ran across one on the Internet called max secure software that caught 12 invasive programs that the others missed it's free and when you go to uninstall it they offer it to you for 19.95.

I'm still thinking about the purchase. Its supposed to be compatible with all other security on you computer.

Thought it might be a viable option for you.
