Squirrel YAC

Season is going too well so I am nitpicking.

But Squirrel must have the lowest YAC ever.

I get that he is small, but dude hits the ground after every single catch. Even when he is behind the d.

I love him, but wish he would lose that tendency.
I notice that too and he's been doing it since 2022. Dude CANNOT stay on his feet after a catch! He reminds me of Justin Hunter after he came back from knee injury. Every catch he made, he'd immediately hit the ground.

One throw to the middle last night was high. He has to lay out to get it. If he were hit in stride he’s in the end zone. He’s one that has shown some big play potential in some plays. We really haven’t seen a guy that can separate, has speed, and can consistently catch the ball. We’ve had a bunch of guys that can do one or the other well but not a guy that puts all of those together yet.

The play to squirrel vs NC State was a beautiful play though.

Same. At first, I chalked it up to being young. But he still does it.

He is who he is. IMO he’s a reliable receiver who runs the right routes, catches the ball, and plays hard - but he’s not going to make many spectacular plays. He doesn’t run away from people and he doesn’t break tackles, but most of the time he does what we need him to do.

That isn’t a knock on him. Only so many guys can be elite, do-it-all types.

Expecting him to keep his feet under him when he catches the ball isnt a herculean ask. Sometimes it can't be helped, like when he has to stretch out for the ball. But the dude does it on almost every catch past 15 yards.

Reminds me of Devrin Young back in the Butch days. No matter where or how hard he was touched on a KR, he goes down. Usually did a tumble. It's a mindset I believe.

It’s a statistical fact that the OP brought for discussion. Nothing more, nothing less. Just an observation w his comments.
That's weird, haven't seen his YAC posted or compared to anyone. If you're going to come on here and **** on one of your own art least post the damn stat you're complaining about. Lazy.

I was thinking that he had more than one throw yesterday that forced him to the ground to make the catch. I seem to remember him being able to get "squirrelly" when the throw lets him stay upright, especially last year.

He also dropped one yesterday that hit him in both hands, wasn’t a perfect pass but if it hits you in both hands it should be caught.

Thread sucks take this negativity elsewhere
Is there a new + only rule, when while were undefeated? It's what discussion forums do ... allow discussion. Sometimes discussions don't end with "All 85 players on our roster are consensus All-Americans". Even though, SW is one of the best players on our roster, the OP has a good question.

Sort of like that catch against Bama last year
